Long term visa for my mother ?

Post by nikhil_adhayan » Mon Dec 17, 2007 4:43 pm

Hi,

I am planning to apply for an HSMP visa for UK. I understand that while my wife might get an dependent visa on behalf of my visa approval, my mother (who is a widow and totally dependent on me) would not be counted as dependent as per the visa rules. So the visitor visa seems to be the only way for her to remain with me. But this would mean she would have to leave UK after every 4-5 months and return after around 2 months (This is just my assumption and I am not sure even this is allowed ?)

So, I was wondering if someone can guide me on a possible way to keep her with me permanently while i am in UK ???

Would appreciate any help on the matter !!!

Thanks in Advance,
Nikhil.

It's not allowed to use a visitor visa as a setlement visa. How old is your mother?

Long term visa for my mother ?

Post by nikhil_adhayan » Tue Dec 18, 2007 5:22 am

Thanks for the reply.

My mother is around 55 years old.

I guess I would not be eligible to apply for Settlement visa for her, since I would only be working on HSMP visa and would not be a resident ?

Please let me know if there is some other visa or way around this ?

Thanks !!!

She's too young plus you do not have ILR. Worse, looks like gov is planning to cut the six month visitor visa to a three month one.

I can't see any way round this issue for you, maybe others can suggest something.
