Losing my chances... Need your help..

My contract with my company expires November 1st week. It was a short notice i got and started looking for a job from last week. I got very few calls till date. Unfortunately, most of them are to Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium and France. It is true that I have got more opportunities in all over Europe rather than UK. I am holding tier1 and I know I cannot work on these countries with the tier 1 visa. I am desperately looking for applying a visa to increase my chances of getting a job in this bad market

1. I have heard about Schenghen visa. I believe it will not allow us to stay in a EU country for more than 3 months. I discussed this with one of the employer and he said it is ok if I visit their head office for 2 weeks and I can work in London for rest of the days. Can we work in Schenghen visa for few weeks. I feel, I will have something in hand instead of nothing if I have Schenghen visa.

2. After reading few sites, I understood that if employer provides a offer letter then I can apply for EU work permit visa which is impossible in my case. Is it possible to apply for EU work permit visa without offer letter.
