Loss of original passport

Post by moro1 » Mon Dec 30, 2013 3:46 pm

Hi everyone,
I got my citizenship last October, I never applied for the passport though.
Now, I booked holidays for the end of January, just about I finished my passport application and the required documents I couldn't find my passport of original country which is required.

What should I do? Do I gave to get a new original passport before applying for the Irish one or a deceleration of loss would do the job?

If you are still a citizen of your "previous" country and they can issue a new passport quickly, make your life easier and get a new one.

If not, the normal process requires the original passport so there is no point in sending your application without it. They must have a special process for people who are not in a position to show the passport, but I would contact the passport office before submitting anything to ask them how to go about it.
