Lots of Confusion over Tier 2 5 year visa

Post by RCBangalore » Wed Apr 16, 2014 5:47 pm

Hi Manci/Experts,

Am right now on Post Study work visa Valid from 25 July 2012 to 25 July 2014.I work with a Teir 2 A rated sponsor and they are willing to sponsor my visa on Tier 2G.

I Am right now confused whether i should go with a 3 year or a 5 year visa.

A ) My salary is less than 35 K .If there is any salary cap for a 5 year visa ? (Can you please forward the link where the salary
package has been mentioned)

B) Do the 5 Year Tier 2 Visa affect anyway in getting a PR?

C) Do I need to be under the same employer for 5 years to get a PR?

D) In case if my job with the current employer terminates within this 5 years and then i renew my visa with another employer,will
my leave curtailed to the remaining one year or will it be from the time i renew to the completion of 6 years.

Can you please help me in getting out of this confusion,as i need to advice my HR which visa i want to get into.

Looking for a positive response.

Thanks,
RCBangalore

I don't think the 5 year visa is any different to one that is less than 3 years in any way other than it is a 5 year visa and costs more. So I assume that you can apply for PR in the last 28 days (or apply for another year on the Tier 2 for the total of 6 near expiry).

No need to stay with the employer. But I believe as with any other duration Tier 2 visa it will have to be a continuous 5 years for you to get PR.

Others may confirm this or tell me I am wrong, which would be appreciated since I am applying for a 5 year visa myself.
