I wanna extend my student visa with my wife in January,2009. I paid my tution fees in uni. How much i need to show in my bank statement and for how long?

You will need to show 800£ (if your university is within INNER LONDON)/600£ (if within OUTER) per EACH MONTH of your stay in UK (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/study ... do-i-need/).

I don't really know what happens to this if you have dependents but try to check UKBA website for this.

Until February 2010 there is a transitional arrangement that you can just show money available without the need to hold them for 28 days PRIOR TO the date you apply. That is only applicable to IN-COUNTRY applicants.
