UK Male Fiance looking for advice.

Post by joe909 » Mon Jul 02, 2007 6:41 pm

Hi there,

Im looking for some guidance to get my fiance and I started in our application process.

Our situation is me (23 years old) and my american fiance (26 years old). We met on the internet in January 2006, and have subsequesntly spent 4 months actually together 2 in each country. We decided some time ago that we would like to get married, and start a life together in the UK.

At the moment, I am working a fairly low paid temporary job, whilst awaiting my results from the university degree i have just completed. I am living at home, in a large 3 bedroomed house with my parents. They are more than happy to offer any financial support (they have an above average income) and a roof over our heads for as long as we need it.

We are planning to spend another month together in August this year, and are wondering whether it should be in the US or the UK and whether we should take action then, or now. Is it possible for us to simply marry in the US, and apply for a spouse visa, or is the Fiance visa a more sensible option?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks, Joe

I'd say marry in the US and get the spouse visa. It saves quite a bit of money and hassle.

Spouse visa costs 500 quid and allows your partner to reside and work for 2 years before applying for ILR.

Fiance visa also costs 500 quid and means you have to marry in the uk within 6 months then spend another 395 (or 595 in person) to apply for FLR(M) to get the two years residence and working ability.
