Marriage Advise ?

I would be greatly appreciate if you could comment on my post please. I am posting this question on behalf of my brother, He is living in London and last week he completed his MBA.

He is currently on his student visa. His British girl friend & himself wants to get married now. I have few question now.

*What is the first step to get married in the UK ?

*What is the way to get married in Church & what is the way to get married in the registry office ?

*How long does it takes to get married in the UK?

NOTE: My brother's student visa is going to expire at the end of Januray 2012. Would it be an issue ?
