Marriage Certificate for Schengen

I am in the process of applying for a tourist schengen visa from the french embassy. As my wife is unemployed currently one of the document required is the marriage certificate. I do have a marriage certificate in english, issued from the state of gujarat in India.

Do i need to submit a official translation of the marriage certificate?

You need to legalise ur marriage certificate from Indian foriegn ministry I guess.

If your marriage certificate is not for a religious marriage but for the state marriage and it is in English, you don't have to get it certified.

As you both are non EU nationals, your marriage certificate does not need to be legalised.

Translation is required when the visa applied is as a non-EU spouse of a EU national
