Marriage doc translation!

Post by coldcarib » Sun Aug 20, 2006 7:08 pm

Hi,
What documents does my Russian girlfriend need to produce to be married in the UK?

I am a UK citizen and my girlfriend is a Russian citizen.
We both live and work in Spain, I have lived in Spain for 2 years and my girlfriend for over 4 years.
We plan on getting married next year and want to know if they will be the same documents required in other countries?

After we are married will she still need a visa to enter the Uk and if so for how long.

Any information regarding these issues will be gratefully accepted

This page on the UKVisas website should help - under "purpose of visit" you could enter either "Fiance(e)" (if the intention is that you return to UK to live) or "Marriage Visit" if you're intending to continue to live in Spain.

Your marriage won't affect your fiancee's need for a visa, as a citizen of Russia. So far as I can see the only way she'll avoid that is by becoming a citizen of Spain or the UK (which would require her to live in UK for three years before applying for naturalisation.
