UK -> US Marriage Visa

Post by hammerstein2007 » Sun Jun 03, 2007 6:11 pm

My wife and I married last february in the Cayman Islands. It was the wedding the way we wanted. Now we're reading up on everything invovled in me going to the US and are a little worried that we won't get through the application process.

There are certain elements such as the K3 Visa which I imagine are absolutely impossible due to the marriage being in the cayman islands and not in our resident countries.

We keep reading about co-habiting and co-mingiling (sp?) of financial resource etc.

We were hoping to hire an immigration attourney in the US this August and get him moving on with this, but we're trying to find out as much information as possible first. Can anybody give any guidance?

What makes this even more difficult is that my mother-in-law doesn't know we're married (my in-laws weren't in favour of our relationship at the point we got married), so we're also planning on doing a renewal of vows in Vegas in August.. just so she thinks we're married. But if we have to rely on her testament in any way, then we're going to talk to everything up.

Well, the mother-in-law is hardly the picture of reason. It would destroy everything we had worked towards, i.e our happiness.

Is it likely that my (unbeknown)mother-in-law would be consulted about the marriage? We don't really know what we would do about accomodation yet, living with her for six months could be our only option for a little while.

Then you better fess up, you don't think you can get away with that and live with her without getting caught. But nevermind, do what you want
