Married to a German citizen, working in Paris?

Hi there,

I just found out this cool website. I am thai, and I am married to a German citizen almost 2 years ago. My husband still lives in Berlin, but I am going to get a job in Paris. It's a very good chance for me in a fashion job, so I'm moving to Paris alone for work. I've heard that it is possible to work in any EU countries as I'm married to my German husband. I just want to know if I'm able to work right away in France or do I need some other documents for that? For Germany, I have the full right to live and work legally but Germany is not a good part for my fashion profession..

And if I'm going to need other papers, what are they? And how can I make them? And how is the progress and how long will it take?

Your husband, is he going to stay living in Germany? If yes, I do not think you have a Treaty Right to work in France, and might well need a French Work Permit to enable you to take up that work in Paris.

If your German husband was to move to France and start exercising Treaty Rights in France, for example by being employed or self-employed there, then you would also have a Treaty Right to work in France.

If you are both moving to France together, then you have an easy right to work there. But you moving alone will not work on the basis of EU law.

Maybe your employer can get a visa for you in France?
