Marrying US citizen

If an H1B employee marries US citizen, if everything is all right, they will receive conditional permanent residence.

What happened if we divorce within 2 years? How difficult is it to get waiver basing on "good faith" marriage?

I am not sure whether I should continue my H1B status (to be independent in case we have problems) or get green card (and be dependent).
