means testing for family/general visitor visa

Post by kingfisher11 » Fri Jul 18, 2014 2:50 pm

Hi guys

I am in the process of inviting a relative to visit for 3 weeks.

I am having some problems helping him to complete details regarding % of income that go towards monthly outgoings etcc.. The amount is well known of course but we need to understand what ratio is considered acceptale by the visa authorities. 50%, 25% 75%? what criteria doe the assessment team apply when determininign whether a person's financial standing is adequate.?

The relative has a stable job and savings around 20 times the amount of his monthly income.
I also saw that the form only asks to specify income from savings stocks etcc as opposed to showing the curent balance.

The ticket will be paid by meed as well as accomodation and full board since he will e stating with me.

How does that impact the amount of funds to declare?

Guys any help with this will be greatly appreciated as I assume many of you have been through similar things in the past.

Many thanks in advance
