hi guys,
i am here again with another problem, but this is for my friend, who is a international student. the information is given below in first person.
i am in a desperate situation where i have to make a decision as soon as possible. i came to UK in OCT 2007 from Srilanka with two year student visa and i have applied for extension at the end of the oct 2009. After two weeks of applying i have submitted my biometric, now waiting for the results.
during July 2009, i started to suffer from leg pain, then my doctor identified the problem and told me that it's called 'Scatica'- info below. i made so many visits to my doctor to cure it, after two weeks he sent me to physiotheraphy, but it didn't had any affect on my problem. at last he (doctor) sent me to MRI scan - which clarified that the pain come from back due to the displacement of disc in spine. now doctor says i need an operation (he said this yesterday - 17th-NOV). the main reason to give you the information about the doctor is that they are taking so much time to identify the problem/solution to it. doctor advising me to go back to srilanka and do the surgery because someone will be there to look after me during the recovery time (3 months bed rest). my parents also wants me to come there for a month to do the surgery, but i am in the final year.
university is advising me that i should drop the course for this year and come back next year to do the final year which would allow so much time for studies as well as recovery after surgery. they also said they will refund the money as well.
however, my application for extension is with UK Border Agency, i don't know what process level it is in. On the other hand, i don't know they wil give me the extension for this year, and i have to ask them for another year.
so can anyone advise me on this matter what should i do? there are so many advises from friends and relatives. but i did not get any advise from home office because i may confuse them and could lead to refusal of extension. therefore i would like to take advise from you guys.
thanks.
(In sciatica, there is a pain down into the leg, which travels below the knee, and may involve the foot. There may be numbness and there may be weakness of the lower leg muscles.
These symptoms may come on their own, but are often combined with low back pain. The order in which the symptoms appear may vary. Sometimes the back pain comes before the sciatica, and sometimes will follow)
