EC: Medical Checkup

Post by hsmp2006 » Sat Nov 11, 2006 4:12 am

All

I recently applied for EC from Bangalore, India and was told that medical checkup has been made mandatory for all applicants from 1st November. However, I couldn't find any such news from British High Commission websites except for this:

"If you intend to travel to the United Kingdom to work in either the food & beverage industry, or in the healthcare industry, you will need to have a medical examination before your visa is issued."

http://www.britishhighcommission.gov.uk ... 1827277310

Can anyone confirm if medical checkup is mandatory for ALL or only for above mentioned professionals.

Thanks,
Amjad.

Hi,

If you are going to UK 1st time in your life, then it is necessary. Probebly you need to produce Chest X-Ray, that it necessary (as far as I know).. but I would suggest you to get the complete checkup done, and take the report with you :)

Thanks AkashS.

By any chance did you go through this medical checkup. Just wanted to find out if we can make this happen quicker than 12 - 15 days. Basically I've given joining date in a UK company on 23rd November. Applied for EC on 10th November. So, if I can get my VISA before 23rd, after medical checkups, it will be ideal.

Regards
Amjad.

It can be done in a day... They may ask you for your X-Ray and other medical report on heathrow only.... not here...

Yeah, this requirement I am aware of. What I was told at BHC is that medical checkup is mandatory for all EC applicants and may take upto 12 days to complete. I can't bypass it.

Anyways, suspense will unfold in next 2-3 days.

Just wanted to correct some myths. I got my EC approved in 2 working days. As told earlier by VFS folks, there was NO medical checkup. I guess medical checkup is required only for few professions, certainly not for IT/SOFTWARE professions.

For details on my approval, please see

Which country did you get you EC from.

Medical Checkup is not a Myth. It could be carried based on the embassy decision. It does not matter which profession you are from.

It certainly is according to VFS. VFS customer care in India confirmed that its ONLY required for medical and healthcare professionals.

I am not sure about other countries though!
