MEDICAL INSURANCE FOR EU SPOUSE IN FRANCE.

I am a South African, spouse of British citizen, we want to settle in France,I have a valid Italian schengen tourist visa, DO I NEED TO SUBMIT A HEALTH INSURANCE COVER WHEN APPLYING FOR MY RESIDENCE PERMIT IN FRANCE WHILE IN FRANCE.

Please, anyone's help will be appreciated.

I suppose you want to apply for a residence card? Or do you want to get a permit in your own right?

In the first case (EEA route): If your spouse is working you may be covered through him/her. If your spouse does not work he/she will be considered as self-sufficient and the authorities can ask for health insurance cover (and from what I have heard here they will do that). I do no know whether your spouse could be covered through you if you are the worker.
