Re: Date on bank statements for visitor visa

I will go that way. to be safe These things need organizing and I need to go abroad to the applicant to sort this out and the other documents. So it will be give or take a month. I've applied for three visas in the past (including the spouse visa) and the dates on bank statements have not been an is...

Date on bank statements for visitor visa

How near or recent from the date of application has a bank statement to be in order to be considered as valid for a visitor visa (5 years visa)? The official gov.uk website says that they will ignore any supporting documents over 12 months old. Others have said it must be dated no longer than 3 mont...

Supporting docs - 5 years visitor visa

I will shortly apply for a 5 years visitor visa. I've had a few other visitors visas of shorter length before (2 years). The application form is now online and you complete it online. I assume the supporting documents they require are similar to those for the 2 years visa. But do the supporting docu...

Extension of visa due to the covid virus

My wife received a visitor visa to come here to see me some time ago. It expires in October. However, because of this virus and severe travel restrictions, she has been unable to come to visit me for most of the life of the visa. In this specific situation, does the Home Office allow an extension of...

Re: Extension of long term visitor visa (2 years)

Yes, I know the maximum visit stay is 6 months. As I said, I am aware that at the end of the 2 years visa, it may be possible to extend it for another period. But my query is about how long she could, depending on the situation, extend her maximum visit period to over 6 months. This extension would ...

Extension of long term visitor visa (2 years)

My wife received a 2 years visitor visa without delay. The question is whether, if need arises, she could extend it. The bits I've picked up suggest that she could apply to extend it for up to 6 months before it expired. So the visa would last 2 1/2 years, rather than 2 years. I've not really looked...

Re: 2 years visitor visa documents

I'm not sure you understand. This was not advice I receive from a professional immigration adviser. He said that it is not that uncommon for people with a spouse visa to have second thoughts. Maybe not on these forums, but in his professional experience. He did not think it would be a problem if the...

2 years visitor visa documents

My wife is shortly to apply for a 2 years visitor visa from outside the EEA/EU. To visit myself, who lives in the UK. She has already received a 6 months visitor visa and a spouse visa, which she did not use. Instead, she needs to stay with her family and friends in her home country. My questions fo...

Re: NHS access and the spouse visa

BTW - This may be confusing responders. By "second visa" I mean the visa for indefinite leave to remain (ILR). Leading to UK residency after 2.5 years. Making the 5 years total process referred to by responders. The "spouse visa" she has is only for temporary leave to remain. Leading to ILR if the a...

Re: NHS access and the spouse visa

Just to contunue a bit. I'm not clear what you refer to when you write: "If she has a shortfall in the 5 year qualifying period she will have to make up the gap by submitting a second FLR(M) application. On what date did your wife enter the UK on her Spouse Settlement visa." So far as I am aware, if...

Re: NHS access and the spouse visa

Hi Casa In answer to this query from you "Ensure you apply for FLR extension before her current visa expires, when she will have to pay another NHS surcharge fee. "If she has a shortfall in the 5 year qualifying period she will have to make up the gap by submitting a second FLR(M) application. On wh...

NHS access and the spouse visa

My wife (outside the EU and EEA) received the UK spouse visa in 2016. It expires in July 2019. However, she has not been in the UK for the life of the spouse visa to qualify for UK residence at the end of the visa, when it expires. I paid for my wife to have NHS at the time of applying for the spous...

Passport application form query

Visitor Visas - 6 months and 2 years

Without going into the full story. My wife's spouse visa expires in July. She decided to stay in her home country and not live in the UK. I understand that she can use still her spouse visa to visit me here until it expires in 2019. After then, she can apply for Visitor Visas to visit me here in the...

Re: Visitor Visa use time limits?

But later in the Visitor Visa advice it refers to 3 months, not to 6 months . Under the heading of "Extend you Visa" it says on the government website, " For example if you apply for a 3 month visa, you can apply to extend it for 3 more months." So I am confused. Is the normal visitor visa for 3 mon...

Re: Visitor Visa use time limits?

Hi there. So to be clear. The advice for the Standard Visitor Visa says simply "You can usually stay in the UK for up to 6 months" but no time limit is stated. In this 6 months that are allowed, this is 26 weeks. The person with this visa can therefore (for example) come to visit me 13 times, each v...

Visitor Visa use time limits?

Are there time limits on the use of the General Visitor Visa? The advice says the person can stay here for a maximum of 6 months. However, can they take this 6 months staying here over a period of a year, or 2 years or 3 years by dividing it up? So for example can the person with the visa come to th...

Re: Returning a spouse visa

Much appreciated. Our case is unusual insofar as we are in a long distance and married relationship that has not broken down. Looking at the form, there doesn't seem to be anything difficult. Our situation isn't mentioned but at the end, it asks for any other reasons for this change of circumstance....

Re: Returning a spouse visa

No, we just live in two countries. Not broken down, so there is no question of my not telling UKVI we are separated/divorced. Just that she finds she cannot live here and I know I cannot live there. So I've been going over there at regular intervals. A reason this has been going on is that we spent ...

Returning a spouse visa

My wife received a spouse visa in 2016, but shortly afterwards decided not to live in the UK. Her spouse visa expires in the summer of 2019. She has not returned to the UK using this visa since the end of 2016, shortly after it was issued. As she has not used the visa, only for a short time, she wil...

UKVI attitude towards enquiries

I never fail to be amazed at the dismissive attitute of UKVI to enquiries. If you spend a lot of time on their website, you find they have a "contact" area. For either a small sum or the cost of a premium rate phone number, they will "answer" general queries. They claim that this money also pays for...

Validity of overseas marriage certificate for UK immigration

I was married abroad (outside the EU) to a lady. We are legally married in the other country but I live most of the time in the UK while she lives most of the time in her home country. My wife is worried that if she applies for a visitor visa to come here to visit, the UK immigration will not recogn...

Re: Irish passport documents

I was hoping that was the case. Since I married in a country in which English is not the main language. So presumably, if a marriage certificate had been required, I would have had to also supply a notarised translation of the marriage certificate. Cheers.
