income based JSA affects ILR?

I'm a British citizen, my wife is not (she is a on 2 year FLR(M) visa). I'm not currently employed and thinking about applying for income-based JSA. We have a child. She's not working right now but will be doing some part time work soon. If I apply for income-based JSA will this affect my wife's nex...

But exactly the same conclusion is reached, as for Tax Credits previously mentioned. So to finalize this I can apply for child benefit since I'm British (my wife is on a time-restricted visa) and we won't need to tick any box on the ILR form? And it won't affect her ILR application? Sorry just maki...

And the relevant regulations are the Tax Credits (Immigration) Regulations 2003, and those were indeed made under section 42 of the Tax Credits Act 2002. So I conclude that, for you and your wife, Tax Credits are not Public Funds, and therefore neither column should be ticked. Does this apply for c...

Yes we were together at the same addresses in both the UK and Taiwan during the 2 years. Not sure if there is anything jointly addressed to us however.

Would it be worth attaching photos for each month of the 2 years in my application?

One last question how important is the 20 letters for FLR(M) extension? And should I supply letters that were sent to us in Taiwan or just the UK? And thanks John, I remember you helped me before, all went well so I will trust you again! If you have any other tips to sign off on let me know, perhaps...

John wrote:Well yes it does, in the sense that without the pass certificate she cannot apply for ILR. Just tick that box.
OK thanks John, by the way it also says give details. What details should I give exactly?

I did not know there were only two options on the form, thanks. So I guess "Personal circumstances to do with your relationship with your partner" only covers people with marriage problems (arguing etc), right? So that means she can only choose the Life in UK test reason, which doesn't really cover ...

Thanks for the response. She has not taken that test but surely would pass it if she did. However the long gaps of not being in the UK is also a reason why they wouldn't give her a ILR, right? So should I put that down in the form? Just wondering if there's going to be a problem getting another FLR(...

extending wife's FLR(M) instead of ILR

I'm British and my wife is Taiwanese. She has a 2-year FLR(M) visa that will expire next month (it says "limited leave to remain", she got it after the fiancee visa). There have been a lot of big gaps in her stay in the UK (biggest one being 11 months), so I don't think we should apply for ILR just ...

Thanks for the informative replies. Yeah she's definitely a British citizen as I'm married to her mother. I guess it's best to get it here now rather than later.

Baby leaving UK for first time

This isn't exactly an immigration problem but I'm not sure where else to ask. My baby daughter is leaving the UK for the first time (she was born here), can she leave on a foreign passport? She is a British citizen by descent of me the father but I'd rather not get a UK passport yet as she doesn't n...

Thanks ppron747. Yeah it's the first time I've heard of the police thing so I doubt we need it. From the information you've told me and everything I've read I would assume that a postal application any time before the expiry date is okay, just not too early heh. Thanks again.

Thanks a lot John that's music to my ears. People like you really make the visa issues easy to deal with. Yeah I had studied the form earlier and seen how easy it is, but for some reason I thought it was only part of the process, like along with the form you had to submit a fountain of paperwork. It...

question about my situation

I'm a British citizen and my wife is Taiwanese. We arrived in the UK in December 2005, she came on a fiancee visa which we got in Taiwan without any problems. We got married in January 2006. The 6 month fiancee visa will end in May so we need to get an extension. I'm aware that this is done via the ...
