Re: Applying for British passport for baby born in India to

We have now received my daughter's OCI in hand. Last week FRRO emailed us to inform about the OCI approval - exactly 30 days after applying, and in between we also had to submit the pending documents(which did not seem to delay the application). Today along with the OCI booklet the OCI was stamped o...

Re: Applying for British passport for baby born in India to

At the time of applying the FRRO said it should get approved within 45 days though at that time they were apparently facing slight delays. That was 3 weeks ago. The 1-year "New Visa" is a multiple entry one. So you can exit and enter India without needing OCI within that period. You can also apply f...

Another update on the British Overseas Birth registration : I have now applied for the baby's overseas birth registration. In fact I had contacted them over email to ask if it's ok for me (the father of the baby) to apply from within the UK when the baby was in India. They replied it's no problem. I...

Just a quick update - The application appears to have reached the UK IPS office as I can see £76.01 has been charged to the card exactly a week after submitting the application.

Re: Applying for British passport for baby born in India to

Not really sure. I was under the impression that ROA is only for those candidates whose parents were born in the UK. https://www.gov.uk/right-of-abode/commonwealth-citizens We (i.e. parents of the baby) weren't born in the UK, instead are naturalised citizens. Again I could be wrong but the option w...

Thanks. I did a bit of reading on this forum to make myself familiar with the various elements involved. Now I have 3 questions: 1. Once I have the baby's birth certificate issued by the local authorities in India, can I directly go for British passport for the baby or there is an additional step to...

That child will not be entitled to British citizenship since you can pass on the citizenship to ONE one generation born abroad.
In that case what will be that child's (our grand child's) nationality?
