Using 'human rights argument' for your parents?

As you all know, now it is very difficult to bring your parents to the UK even if you have UK passport. However, I've just read this story: "Cameron Poole, who stole £648,000 from the London Philharmonic Orchestra while serving as its finance director, has won his bid to stay in Britain after leavin...

Thanks, MPH80. If you say it is impossible, then perhaps it is true. :(

Hi MPH80,

Do you think hiring a lawyer for the application would make a difference?

Hi kuruvi, my father is retired and can prove he has to rely on my financial support.

However, in that case I think the Home Office would say 'you just send money back so that your father can have personal care. He doesn't need to come to the UK'.

Is that true?

Thanks. On the UK Border Agency, they list three requirements, one of which is: "The care you need is not available in the country where you are living, either because it is not available and there is no person in the country where you are living who can reasonably provide it or it is not affordable...

Does your father need to be really ill to settle here?

Hi all, May I ask for your advice? I have lived in the UK for 12 years and got the UK passport. Now I want to apply for the settlement for my father. My mother has passed away, so my father lives alone. At present he is 63. As I understand, I can only apply once my father is 65. However, I was also ...

Can a foreigner apply for the 60+ Oyster card?

Hi all, perhaps you know about the new scheme, 60+ Oyster card, which will give us free travel on all Transport for London (TfL) services.

Is it possible for a foreign visitor, who comes to the UK as a family visitor, to apply for this card even though they don't have a UK passport yet?

Thank you.

Can an aunt come to the US for her nephew's children?

Dear all,

Legally speaking, can an aunt come to the US to take care of her nephew's children? If the US embassy in the local country know of this intention, will they have the right to deny the visa?

My sincere thanks,

How can a visitor see a GP for a health problem?

Dear all, may I ask this question? I've already settled in England, so I get access to NHS. However, my father only sometimes visits me as a visitor from abroad. Suppose he gets a minor problem like a cold or a headache, is there any way for him to see a GP? I'm willing to pay the fee, but my local ...

Should I mention my child when applying visa for my father?

Last year my father visited me as we celebrated the birth of our baby. Since the baby was sick, after six months, we applied for him to stay with us, but it was rejected. So he returned. Now we want him to visit us again. I have read stories about how your relatives can be rejected on the grounds th...
