Re: Foreign Birth Registration

They told me that my docs will be posted 4 weeks after my passport was dispatched. Super inconvenient! Have you had urs back yet ? If so, how long did it actually take. Also where are you in the world. I’m in Scotland. I’m assuming that our location/s will also have a bearing on the length of time ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I am based in Bristol and I have always used a photo booth for all my visas and passport photos and never had any issues with them , you can get your photos done for the Irish passport too now in boots and other retailers plus I have had my US student visa photo taken on the same one . Passport app...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all. Currently working on a joint FBR application with my sister through our paternal grandmother. (We have been "working on it for years", but a surprise pregnancy has been a swift kick to the pants!) At this point, we are just waiting on the last few documents to be mailed to us. Today, I rece...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

When you do finally receive the FBR certificate and subsequently apply for a passport. Do u need to send them all the birth, marriege and death certs again for the passport or does the FBR cert cover that aspect of the eligibility checks at that stage ? I am based in Bristol and I have always used ...

Re: Irish citizen and non Irish/non EU spouse , short holiday to Ireland

I’m based in ROI so most of my visas are for UK. They use Teleperformance as their partner now as opposed to VFS, so unfortunately I haven’t any idea how VFS works. I don’t expect them to be any different though. I don't like using them and prefered going to the embassies but so many use VFS now an...

Re: Irish citizen and non Irish/non EU spouse , short holiday to Ireland

Yeah I fully agree. Good luck with the visa. Tourism visas are normally fairly quick and they won’t give her any hard time. Thank you and I'll keep you posted, Just to ask have you had to use the VFS visa application centre before for Ireland for a short stay visa yet? Or are you based in the ROI?

Re: Irish citizen and non Irish/non EU spouse , short holiday to Ireland

I don't want to chance it with my wife travelling into the Republic from the North, too risky going by coach and I read about a lady whom was a resident in GB but was flying to Dublin and then was meant to get a connecting flight but didn't get on because the lady didn't have a transit visa and was ...

Re: Irish citizen and non Irish/non EU spouse , short holiday to Ireland

Well if your wife requires a visa to enter Ireland, she would just have to apply for that. Whether she has a PR in the UK or not is irrelevant. The only exception is: If you were exercising EU Treaty in the UK, she might be able to travel to Ireland without a visa. Did she obtain her PR based on yo...

Re: Irish citizen and non Irish/non EU spouse , short holiday to Ireland

You should check inis website or contact visa office first to find out if visa is required for your spouse. It can depend on where your spouse reside, what kind of documents she holds etc. If she needs a visa it is usually pretty straightforward process and it is free for family members of EU citiz...

Re: Irish citizen and non Irish/non EU spouse , short holiday to Ireland

Short term visit visa (Type C Visit) requirements are the same, regardless of whether you accompany her or not. In most countries she needs to apply for her application online and schedule for an appointment with the local embassy or the visa centre to take all the documents and biometrics. Thanks ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi, I got told my FBR application had finally been approved a few weeks ago (17th Jan) and that I will be added to the FBR register. They told me there is a delay on printing certificates - I contacted them today and was told there is still a delay. Does anyone know if it is possible to apply for a...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Has there been any inkling that the Irish gov May remove the grandparent descent FBR route?? I believe it is in the Irish constitution and would therefore require a referendum to remove. It's also in the constitution that non-resident Irish nationals (what we are hoping to become!) have no entitlem...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Regarding the witness I had problems getting any witness, doctor, bank manager etc who was comfatable in doing it. In the end I went on a website for finding lawyers where you can en-masse send an email to all lawyers in your area to ask them to witness your FBR form. Fortunately I was able to find...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My thinking was that if I was due to get onto the FBR in the next month or so, then I could pre-emptively go through the passport application process, upload a photo etc so I could get one of the identity forms and sort witnesses and all the rest out before it arrives, and then pop it straight back...
