I was wondering about this and just about to post a topic about this. So does it mean that after 9th May as the COA is being abolished, that any migrant can marry in the UK? I am born british and my partner is from Iraq, he is in a detention centre so we would need a COA to get married at the moment...

Just to answer a few of your questions... He cannot be deported because of his children in the UK, it would be against his human rights. Also in Iraq, they will not accept anybody over there who is forced to go back to Iraq, even if you want to, you have to have all of your original Iraqi passport/t...

He previously had indefinate leave to remain, What do you mean when you say "he previously had ..."? Has the ILR been revoked, for any reason, and has no legal right to remain in the UK? I dont think you can make somebody get deported. However if they have broken their Visa or Import conditions then you can report that to the UK Border agency. My Partners ex tried to do the same thing when they split up years ago and she was told that he had to of broken his conditions to be here to...
