Thank you. Yep, that's what I thought - bit of a stitch-up, I think. £150 is insane.

A1 English Language Test

Hello Everyone, So, my wife needs to take the English test - I've found a list of test providers on the UKBA website and found out that we can do it but only in London and at a cost of £150. This seems rather expensive for a 20 minute test and add the cost of travelling from Folkestone...it all add...

Thank you for your help - panic (just about) over. I googled it and found that it's happened to other people so perhaps it is merely a glitch but it certainly gave me a fright. I will email them though just to make sure.

Hang on...the wrong form? But she's my fiancee - she wants to come to the UK to marry me? VAF4A is the correct form, surely?

Hi Ali and thanks for your reply. We're applying for settlement visa; she wants to come over as my fiancee and marry here. Please don't tell me we've filled in the wrong visa form!

VAF4A online application

Hello Everyone, Right, I've just completed the online VAF4A form for my girlfriend in South Korea - all filled in and seemed fine. However, we then receive an email saying we need to take the VAF2 form to the application centre in Seoul. I'm very confused - we have definitely filled in the VAF4A but...

Hmmm, that's odd, I had to do the same thing last week and of the two solicitors I contacted in Dover both were prepared to do it for me - for a fiver. I'd suggest finding some others - or coming to Dover!

Good luck:)

Thankyou, Batleykhan.

I was wondering, though - if I've included my original birth certificate with the application will I also need a certified copy of my passport?

I'm the sponsor, by the way.

Thanks.

Birth Certificate AND Certified Passport Copy?

Hello, a quick question about the settlement visa - I'm getting all the paperwork together and we're almost ready to apply. I sent my original birth certificate and I'm wondering if I also need to get a certified copy of my passport to submit. Please let me know.

Thank you!

Another question - thanks in advance for any/all answers. I'm getting all the paperwork ready to send to Korea. I've sent my original birth certificate and an expired passport (to show that my girlfriend and I travelled together) and I'm also going to send a copy of my current passport. Do I need to...

Given you are British (I assume, please confirm) it is not a problem you claiming those benefits. However that does not automatically mean that the financial test will be passed; that is a separate matters. Thanks, John, for your reply. Yes, I am British. And I'm relieved that it's not a problem me...

Hello again, just realised that no one's answered my question - if possible, could someone please let me know whether my receiving carer's allowance (classed as a public fund) means I won't be able to sponsor my girlfriend for a fiancee visa.

Thank you.

Presumably with no housing costs to take into account, even that £1000 will help. But do make it clear that assuming the visa is granted, one of you will be going out to work, and that can even apply while she is still on a fiancée visa, because while she cannot do paid work at that stage, there ...

Thanks for that. When she comes over here, and after the fiancée visa has been converted into a spouse visa, what sort of work will she hope to get? Does she have any particular skills or qualifications? Or might she start looking after your mother, and then you can go out to work? If yes, what so...

Benefits and Fiancee Visa

Hello... Looking for some advice, please. My long-term girlfriend (South Korean) and I are planning on getting married - we'd like to apply for settlement. However, I'm currently caring for my ill mother in the family home and I receive income support and carer's allowance. My girlfriend and I would...

Many thanks to you all for your responses - much appreciated. Will you all live together at the family home when your fiancée comes to the UK? Permanently or temporarily? If the place is big enough and your parents own it (and can confirm this with mortgage statements etc.), then there shouldn't be...
