As a general rule I think its safer to travel with your passport, even as an EU citizen. Why risk the hassle otherwise?

Rugby player wanting to come to Ireland

Hi

A friend of mine is a rugby player who'd like to come and play rugby for clubs in Ireland. There is a club that is interested in recruiting him, but they unsure of the procedures in applying for a visa.

Does anyone have any information on how to go about?

Any help would be appreciated.

No such thing and highly unlikely that there exists something like this. Embassy staff wants to see all applicants in person and they will not allow any application submitted on some one else's behalf, let alone via post. Sorry!

They will process it if you a reasonable reason and is able to provide booking information (flights/hotel). I think they do it in around 2 days or so, why don't you just call the passport office?

Not as far as i know. I applied for a visa last year, didnt submit a lot of documentation. I merely explained that i go to the north often for shopping and holidays, and got approval in a couple of days.
