Hi, Thanks for the reply and the information - could you advise where you found these guidelines? Do you have a link? That's good to know regarding an allowance of 90 days 12 months prior to application (that should be ok then) BUT she will easily have exceeded 180 days over 5 years. Are you sure it...

My fiancé has been in UK for 5 years, ILR application to be made in spring 2010 BUT she is planning a 2 month trip back to her home country from July - September and has already b...

RE: Tourist Visa Options

Hi All, Question: My brother in law is over in the UK from Brazil. His tourist visa expires at the end of April. He would like to stay in the uk longer. Is it possible to get an extension on a tourist visa? If not, would the best option available be to fly out to somewhere in Europe (maybe Ireland) ...

Scenario - Defacto Visa - ILR

Hi All, Does anyone know how the following works in relation to ILR. My fiancé was granted a Defacto Visa in March this year (we’ve lived together for over 2 years). In March 2010 she will be eligible to apply for ILR. In the interim we are planning on getting married i.e. in July 2009, however o...

Seriously if a poster is going to give a retarded response like SYH please keep your comments to yourself, they are not useful. It will be under 28 days so I may leave it to the discreation of the officer, like everything it's a risk. £300 is a lot to spend for an extension for only 14 days but I w...

Thank you for your assistance Victoria. In theory does this mean if my passport is not endorsed as an overstayer when leaving the UK it is fine to apply for future visas? I'm guessing there is a chance it will not be endorsed as an overstayer, particulary with a letter from the college explaining ex...

Thanks Victoria, that is for a full extension though. A new course would have to be paid for etc. Additionally 3 extensions have already been granted over the last 4 years. It's unlikely that another will unless it is at degree level. So what happens if overstaying by 2 weeks to do this exam? Phil

It's not worth getting into too many details. Essentially course is finished, exams are finished, however this last exam is for the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). You cannot take it in Jan or Feb, it is only available to take in March. This is a very important qualification t...

Are you sure? I've heard to the contrary.

It's not worth getting an extension for 14 days in order to sit an exam. To get the extension costs around £1500 including booking a new course and extension fees.

Hello eveyone, I wonder if you can help with the following: Question - If you are on student visa which expires at the end of Feb but have exams to take for your course in mid March, are you allowed to overstay in order to complete your exams? Question - How to apply for a visa to work in Brazil.

I'm British and looking to gain employment in Brazil (Sao Paulo) for a year in February 2008.

I've done some research on the internet but I'm struggling to find an agency which deals with these types of visas or information on how to apply directly.

Can anyone advise?

Many Thanks.

Thanks for this Wanderer, glad you got the extension. I need to do the same in terms of keeping the letter business like, presumably you just state you are the sponsor, proof of finances etc and that’s it. The visa agency will no doubt advise on this. Thanks.

Question: If you apply for a visa extension, lets say 3 weeks before your visa runs out (you send your passport and relevant documents), if the home office take 6 weeks to process the application and are in possession of your passport the day it expires are you then considered an overstayer? For exa...

Phil, the whole purpose of obtaining a visa in the first place is so that the UK can vet the person and address any admissibility issues BEFORE the applicant even gets on a plane. The decision to allow the person entry into the UK is actually made at this point at the embassy. This means that the i...
