Re: Acquiring permanent residency for spouse of Irish citizen in UK

Hi, I'm from Northern Ireland, have Irish Passport, my wife is non EU, she's just obtained PR, had previously had FP then 5 year RC. Basically, you need to be exercising your Treaty Rights in 5 continuous years since the date she first entered the UK, so working. Doesn't matter what she was doing, w...

Permanent Residence obtained, two questions

Hi, My non EU Wife has just obtained UK biometrics PR. Her card states - RESIDENCE CARD OF A FAMILY MEMBER OF A UNION CITIZEN. We have two questions, forgive us if they seem silly, we just want to be sure, 1) My wife didn't need a Schengen Visa to visit Spain or wherever in the EU when she had her 5...

Re: Irish Nationals as automatically settled

Hi Salem, Thank you for replying. I read somewhere that Article 8 can be argued if you're asking for discretion outside of the immigration rules and that's what we're doing. Also, in the application letter the solicitor highlighted a case ruling where discretion can be used without there being exce...

Re: Irish Nationals as automatically settled

Obie, with all due respect that was very unhelpful. What my solicitor is arguing is that I have established a private life in the UK. My relationship with my partner and the relationships with my friends, colleagues and spiritual group all fall under private and family life. He is asking for discre...

Re: Home Office Refusal Unlawful - NON EEA PR - dual national

I checked the posting history of the OP, and it is a bit more complicated. This is a retrospective application for a qualifying period in the years 2006-2011 (or possible 2008-2013, that is not clear). So the citizenship of the sponsor before 2010 is relevant, and the rejection based on lack of evi...

Re: Home Office Refusal Unlawful - NON EEA PR - dual national

I can understand how infuriating the home office can be, but getting angry is not usually helpful. Instead you need to look back at your case and try to understand the logic behind the refusal. The home office may be bureaucratic, paranoid, and at times mean spirited, but they are typically just fo...

Re: Important question: do non-EU family members living in U.K. maintain their rights in EU after Brexit?

When the non EU spouse have acquired a UK Permanent Residence Card, after the UK 5 years Residence Permit, do they still currently have Visa free travel in the EU, the same as they did with the 5 year Residence Permit, or do they then need a Schengen Visa? They have if traveling with or to join EU ...

Re: Opening bank account while waiting for a resident card - EEA2

I will try in both banks, but the main problem is, when I show my passport to the bank worker (even a manager) they only see my expired visa and they say that CoA doesn't have anything to do with them. Do you think in those banks will accept my passport (NON EU) and CoA as a proof of ID? I don't kn...

Re: Opening bank account while waiting for a resident card - EEA2

Try the Credit Union. All they need is one form of ID, a Birth Cert will do, and two items of proof of address. I know through my work, many people who have trouble with ID and opening an Bank account can open one there. Thanks, I will try in Credit Union. Is this bank? https://www.creditunion.co.u...

There is no longer an 'online status check' service. It was taken down on 12th December already.
Thanks for the prompt response.

So was that the only tool to track an application (Non EU PR)?

Have Case ID number, where can check status?

Hi,

As the title, I have the case ID number via email, but not sure where I can input it to check with it to see the status of the application?

I found a link online, but when I clicked, it went to a HO page saying it was a trial, and was off line at present?

Thanks.

This negotiation between the United Kingdom and the EU will likely take months - not days or weeks. Being reported on Monday's papers, that the EU have rejected May's 'damp squid' offer. Just seen it on Sky's Press Review. Damp squib ...... Sorry!!! Indeed! http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...
