Same here. My son was born British. Travelling was a nightmare on different passports. Make the letter short, simple and very polite. Remember its not a compliant letter, you're just following up on your application. Write something in the lines of you hoping that your application is getting all the...

They told me nothing. They didn't contact me for any additional information nor they've contacted my referees. When my MP called them, they've told him that this is normal and some application can take a little bit longer than six months. My lawyer was told the same, but he pushed them with a letter...

Hen, Dont waste your time thinking about the reason. They are over stretched and any additional checks will severely delay the application. We have seen a lot of delays in recent times and applications are taking much longer than before. A year ago 4-5 months was so long. Now, applicants are expecti...

As straight forward as it gets. They never said why or what checks are being done even when my MP himself called them. It does really take months so be patient and set your expectations right. In Canada, it takes 18 months. We're lucky that its circa 6 months here.

Wow, I waited for 9 months before getting my approval. I started to worry in my fifth/sixth month. Two to three months is nothing. You guys need to be more patient. Good luck to you all :)

If people call you in the office by Tim which is different from your birth name then you should mention it in other names. However, if Tim is short for Timothy for example, then there is no need. From my experience, don't hide anything, its better to give them all the information you're asked than h...

1- Mention Tim as other names you're known by- its important.

2. Referees seems fine to me but don't take my word on that.

@Camellia: I really hope you'll get an answer soon. The wait is terrible and I sympathise with you. Good look and hopefully you'll hear soon from them. Try to contact your MP. If you need a good lawyer, I can pass you the details of mine, but he's very expensive. @vegeta_2009: You should relax. 3 mo...

@Blackhole Don't bother calling them. they won't give you any update under six months. Ignore it. This is what I did. You've got your ILR and no one is going to kick you out of Britain. Enjoy your life and if it comes, it comes. You need to put it behind you and live your life. In some other countri...

Goodness me. I thought I was an exceptional case! I've applied through NCS. Spouse of British Citizen with a 3 year old child. No fines, no trouble with the law or people throughout my whole life. I've been in the UK for over 3 years when I applied. Maybe it took them a while to do overseas backgrou...

No idea. Pretty straight forward to me. Approval came at the end and they never said why was the delay. If they were unhappy with anything, they would have refused it. No clue at all! I was fine till it hit the 6th months mark. This is when I hired a lawyer and wrote to my MP. I really don't wish on...

Approval after 9 months!!

Hi guys, I got my approval on Friday. After nearly 9 months of waiting. No idea why it took that long. If you ever think your application is taking too long (3-4 months), then think of me and you'll feel so much better! It has been a frustrating nine long months. But its finally over!! Even if you get your approval next, you wont have enough time to travel for Xmas. I am being realistic and want you to think like that as well. It takes at least 6 weeks to sort out you ceremony, passport interview etc- if everything goes super smooth. Xmas is in 6 weeks. Don't do the mistake I did ...

Re: Informing govt delta after acquiring British citizenship

Hello. Does anyone know which government/organisations departments need to be informed after naturalisation? I am thinking HMRC, DVLA, registrar of electors... Anyone else? Thank you in advance Good question. Anyone knows if we are to be informed about this by the HO after receiving the approval?

Same here. Six months in a week's time. It would be helpful to know what to say to the HO in that letter or if its OK to write to them in the first place. An explanation or a realistic timeline would be a lot more appreciated than this ambiguity. I am a human being after all, and this has a direct i...
