Re: Name change on British passport

No, I don't think you can. Besides, the Naturalisation Certificate was already sent to HM and they haven't requested any further documents except the name change. I think the Naturalisation Certificate is similar to the Birth Certificate in that its a historic document representing the name at that ...

Re: Name change on British passport

I've gone down the Deed Poll route so hoping once it comes through, that'll be it.

Not sure why they didn't accept the UK Marriage Certificate which is weird.

Fingers crossed they'll accept the Deed Poll as there's nothing more I can we can do!

Re: Name change on British passport

So, after including a covering letter stating the name change was evidenced by the UK Marriage Certificate, we received a letter this morning stating, 'in order for us to proceed with your application, please send us a Change of Name Deed from abc to xyz' I just have to follow their orders, despite ...

A new certificate will not be issued in her new name. HMPO doesn't deal with certificates anyway.
Any reason why they would request the Naturalisation Certificate, just doesn't make sense why they would request this?

Re: Name change on British passport

A follow up on this thread. We submitted the application for name change (passport renewal online) and sent the following documents (all original documentation): - British passport - foreign passport - UK marriage license - driving license - bank statement - utility bill These were the requested doc...

Name change on British passport

Hi My wife got her British passport almost a year ago. The passport was in her maiden name, which matched her foreign passport. From reading these forums, the only way to change the British Passport to her married name is to first change her foreign passport. After a long delay, finally, her foreign...

British passport name change as per foreign passport

My wife recently received her British passport but it had her name as per the foreign passport. The foreign passport has now been changed to reflect the married name. How do we apply for a new British passport to ensure the name change is as per her foreign passport? What documents should we include...

Re: Passport received in maiden name

Is there a difference in the two routes, name change on foreign passport vs deed poll? From the little I know, I’ve seen questions asked ‘have you changed name by deed poll’ so seems the ‘better’ choice is name change on foreign passport, to reduce any future complexities. Does everyone agree or doe...

Re: Passport received in maiden name

The foreign passport is in her maiden name. I recall the passport application asking if the name had been changed and we said it was changed through marriage. Surely that question is there to update from maiden name to marriage name, or have I missed something? Going forward, how do we correct the s...

Passport received in maiden name

My wife’s British Passport arrived yesterday! Unfortunately it arrived in her maiden name, even though she applied in her married name. We also included the marriage certificate. She hasn’t signed the passport yet but how do we correct to the marriage name? How long does it take and what documents d...

Which documents should I keep?

Missus has now applied for her British passport after a near 6 year application process (fiance visa for 6 months, then 5yr route and then Citizenship and passport application). Once the new passport arrives, is there any documentation I need to retain for future use? And how long should I keep this...

Re: Citizenship invitation typo on Place of Birth

Ok, last word on this. I rang the Home Office and they advised to change the typo after attending the Citizenship ceremony. As it happens, the ceremony is tomorrow! So we'll fill in Form RR (by post) and send a copy of the passport showing the correct Place of Birth. Just two queries: 1) should I se...

After everything I've read on here, I don't think its as simple as writing a covering letter with the passport application.

Mods - could you pls advise.

Re: Citizenship invitation typo on Place of Birth

Wow, I didn’t know I could do that. Once we get the British passport, does the typo on the Naturalisation Certificate matter, or is it surplus to requirements as the passport is the travel documentation? That’s really good news to hear, really didn’t know that was possible. Is this likely to take mu...

Thanks in advance

Citizenship invitation typo on Place of Birth

My wife received her Citizenship approval letter but unfortunately there is a small typo in the Place of Birth, an extra 'h'. I checked her post-ILR BRP and the previous one and both BRPs have the same typo. I never noticed it before. I checked my previous copies of the application and they were all...

UKVI surveys

Applied for British Citizenship about 6/7 weeks ago and still waiting to hear back. Today I got an email for 'UKVI Surveys' - could it mean the application has been decided and that the result is imminent? Or is it just totally unconnected? Would be interested in hearing from individuals who also re...

How is the applicant first alerted that their Citizenship application is concluded, via text message (like ILR) or is it via post?

What happens if you’re abroad for more than 21 days the confirmation letter arrives?

Is the Citizenship then stopped because you didn’t book in time?

Re: Rebooking Citizenship application

I've booked for early next week. What happens at the Citizenship appointment, is it any different to the ILR service? As for the process, once the application is under consideration, at what point do they contact the two referees? And is it usually by email or phone or letter? One of my referees is ...

Rebooking Citizenship application

What about referee's signature on photo - is that required?

Doesn't say so on the online form but someone suggested it in this forum, so I'm a little confused!
