So your country uses the Irish Stamp 6 as a signal that "even though this person isn't living here, it's because they're a dual-national, so let them vote in local elections still"?
Not local elections but on Parliament and President elections.

Re: Stamp 6 for dual citizenship

Can you say more about this requirement by your home country? I'm trying to understand why (say) as a US dual-citizen I would ever bother with a Stamp 6, and maybe knowing the cases where it is needed would be helpful. :-) It is required for permanent residence in Ireland for my country, it will al...

Re: Stamp 6 for dual citizenship

As far as I know, you send your passport off to ISD, they stamp it and send back. https://www.irishimmigration.ie/my-situation-has-changed-since-i-arrived-in-ireland/without-condition-dual-citizenship/ But take into account it's, basically, useless, as if you have only Stamp 6 and a non-Irish passp...

Stamp 6 for dual citizenship

Can someone point me in to the direction of the procedure to receive Stamp 6 in my foreigner passport? It does specify that it can not be done online but does not specify procedure: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/registering-your-immigration-permission/information-on-registering/immigration-permiss...

Re: First time passport application

There's some hope for receiving our first time passports sooner than later, someone on another forum confirmed that their status has changed to printing yesterday. They applied back in Feb and submitted documents in early May with an estimated issue date of 25th of May - so roughly two weeks past e...

Re: First time passport application

Quite agree. Still waiting. Online application completed 23/12/20 documentation sent 18/3/21. Estimated completion 18/5/21. Progress bar been to the end and then back to 3/4 full - where it’s remained for the past 10 days - and I’m a very straightforward applicant. My mother was born Ireland so I’m...

Re: First time passport application

Not sure how are they planning on "clearing the backlog" by the end of June (6-8 weeks) if no passports (seemingly) were issued for first time applicants since reopening. I'd expect them to at least process some of the applications and print some of the passports, unless they are "processing" all o...

Re: First time passport application

Just looked at passport online and there is an update saying they are scaling up operations. Is anyone sending their passport applications in now? Passport services have resumed and they are expecting to have the backlog cleared within 1-2 months. If you don’t have any travel plan for the next 2-3 ...

Re: Two years waiting

Who is charging you 1200 for JR? Judicial Review can cost 30000 with couple of court hearings. Each side. For case preparation alone can cost a lot more then 1200. May be 1200 is just for initial case opening. I heard costs are not that high. Around 3-5K Euros for court fees, still quite big number.

Maybe it will be considered essential service, legal services are listed as essential. I guess if you need to visit court it will be exempt from 5KM restrictions.

Re: Does Ireland have the laxest citizenship requirements of any European country?

I'm not originally from Ireland but obtained citizenship through one of my parents. It was quite simple. They were here only 5 years and I got it 1 and a half years later. Many friends I know who have emigrated to places like Austria and Switzerland talk about having to wait 8 to 10 years before ev...

You will need to notify INIS if the travel is more than 6 weeks even after you applied for citizenship. If it is essential travel they might give it exemption.
