he came to England with a 6 month family permit (which expired half way through the waiting time)

We applied end of february and we are still waiting. If you want to travell, ask for your passport back, you need to call, than they will give you a fax number and you also need to send a fax. Make sure you ask for your passports in time, takes a least 10 working days. If you can travell, it depends...

Thank you for your answers. I called home office again. The passports were sent out by "Secure Mail Service" (SMS) not royal mail, they gave me Reference number and phone number. I called Secure Mail straight after. They said fine, we will deliver it tomorrow!! I hope it works, can't wait till tomor...
