Re: Curtailment

Thank you Obie

I know the same applies as before - I won't find the answer here but, after appealing the curtailment two years later, how likely is it they'll grant him further DL?

I had been in contact with the intelligence unit and they assured me they'd been looking for him

My ex partner is a Nigerian National. He was granted DL Sept 2011 based on our relationship but we separated within just a week. There was serious Domestic Abuse involved and after confiding in my health visitor, i knew i had been in an abusive relationship. He threatened abduction of my son to Nige...

NI

My partner was granted DLR recently and he wants to apply for NINO for work purposes. We contacted job centre and they said he has to do it through tax credits which doesn't make any sense but we rang them anyway. They didn't know what we were talking about but said they'd transfer it to specialist ...

DL is granted outside the rules so there are no definitve set of rules! No have you said anything about the circumstances. Here is a link to the DL information on the UKBA site but it is by no means comprehensive. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/policyandlaw/asylumpolicyinst...

Discretionary Leave to Remain

Can anybody tell me where i can find some good information about DL? My partner is expecting to be granted DL soon as we've heard from the HO telling us they require certain docs to finalise the decision. Can't find much explaining what DL actually means and what it entitles my partner to? i.e work!!

Hi I had a problem once sorting tax credits out for my daughter when she finished college and registered with the connections service. I agree with the above poster you need to keep ringing them, But if you don't get no joy go down to the local tax office they might be able to sort it out for you, ...

Hey, i'm not as educated as a lot of the guys on here who can help you. But i had exactly the same problem and it started in April last year. I only just got my first CTC payment in March of this year. You need to keep on top of the HMRC and tell them the situation. If the advisor won't help you, wh...

I don't think you should seek advice from CAB as they're not as reliable as Immgration solicitors. I'd advise you to contact IAS who will more than likely be able to assist you further.

i am still entitled to tax credits as i'm British Not quite, in the sense that, as you are living with your partner you do not have the ability to claim Tax Credits in your sole name but you can make a joint claim with your partner. The fact that you are British is distinctly helpful as regards tha...

Yes it is wrong. They get confused when it comes to overstayers. You should contact community law service. They're the ones who are sorting my claim out. You need to keep on at them. I went through the same thing and it's awful but you'll get there with them. They're very under trained in immigratio...

They are the most ignorant people when it comes to overstayers. They haven't got a clue how to deal with situations like ours. My partner went for a NINO interview June 2010 and that was refused. We were then told so many different things by CAB and various other advisory services. He went for anoth...

Immigrants do not have a reporting card only those who have been living in the UK illegally and have been caught by the UKBA. As a result of being caught they are then told to report on a regular basis to the authorities OHHH! But when i called his solicitor to ask if we could get a lette out of th...

REPORTING CARD.. OR NOT?

My partner is an overstayer. We moved in together for the second time, with our first child in April 2010. HMRC stopped my claim for CTC and i haven't recieved a payment since then due to them continually messing me around, the way they have treated me, as a BC, is disgusting. Anyway, after 10 month...

Income Support Overstayer/British Citizen

My partner is an overstayer. I've had problems with Tax Credits for 20 weeks. They told me i needed to make a joint claim so i did. around 14 weeks later, after a whole load of mess, CAB told me i needed to make a single claim because my partner's 'invisible'.. No income.. No status.. Nothing.. They...

Without any questions, but when he signs up to a doctors where we live now, they'll ask for more details won't they? I have been waiting for 14 weeks to receive CTC. My partner had to go for an interview for a NINO so that it could be put on the claim form. He was refused after 2 weeks and now i'm not sure what to expect. I called the tax office and the person i spoke to had no idea what i was talking about. I ask...
