Re: Anyone used their RC to travel to Portugal recently?

Hello, My wife and I flew into Lisbon airport in Nov 2014 and Dec 2014 with me having a valid UK RC of EEA National. Border police in Lisbon seemed very confused both times. They wanted to grant me entry based on us transiting. We were not transiting. At the end, they let us in. They did say that th...

Whenever I fly with Ryanair I, as a visa national, am always asked to show the required visa to travel. Once they see my RC issued by the UK they let me through. Mind you, I always travel with my wife and we also carry our Marriage Certificate. Elsewhere in this forum, I've read the case of an unmar...

While it is true that the UKBA could turn up at the ceremony, you should not worry about it if the relationship is genuine. The UKBA could visit you at home or work at any time anyway. If your Portuguese partner is currently a "qualified person" in the UK, you could marry abroad and apply for a Fami...

You can indeed marry in the UK. You an also apply for a RC in the UK as an unmarried partner, depending of course in the amount of evidence you have of both of you having a relationship "akin to a married couple". I'd apply for a RC as an unmarried partner and once married, I'd submit further eviden...

If flying from the UK, he is unlikely to get past the airline staff. But if you took the train, you'd meet the Schengen officers in London, so you shouldn't have a problem if travelling with the UK citizen and the marriage certificate.

Buy your wife a ticket to Norway, fly in with her and stay for the course. Your wife can go back to the UK the day after. Since you have a UK RC you shouldn't have any problems entering the UK.

Or you could go through the hassle of applying for a Schengen Visa...

I have flown with Ryanair, Monarch, Wizz Air and Iberia, with hand luggage only. The boarding pass always says in bold capital letters, " VISA/PASSPORT CHECK . You will be denied boarding if you do not have your travel documents checked at the check-in desk". But if you really want to find out by yo...

Is this the way the UKBA work? Yes, this is their normal behaviour.

UkBA now have a younger sibling, UK Border Force, which is very eager to follow its older sister's footsteps.

Apply for Permanent Residence first, it's free and if rejected you'll get a reason why, again at no cost to you.

If you have obtained PR and UKBA recognises that, then apply for naturalisation.

You will need evidence of your relationship, a marriage certificate will do. Your passport and your wife's passport plus evidence of your wife exercising treaty rights in the UK. Don't forget to attach passport style photos. Follow the guidance for EEA2 application form from the UKBA website, but be...

Congratulations! As long as your wife is exercising treaty rights in the UK you have a right to be here. So, you are legally here since the day you got married if that's the case. 1. Her age does not make a difference. 2. Your "visa" status is irrelevant as long as the relationship is genuine. 3. No...

Travel with Residence Card - Success Stories

Many people ask the question, can I travel with article 10 residence card with my EU family member without an additional visa. What are people's recent experiences? Did you get on the plane or not? When? What airline? What document did you hold? What country issued it? What destination? Traveling wi...

Re: Bad experience at Heathrow

While I´d also recommend complaining (also to the Commission under sg-plaintes@ec.europa.eu , please post any reply that may come from it in this forum!), may I ask what´s so bad about filling the landing-card that you would want it returned to you? I never saw it, so I´m just asking out of curiosi...

Complain to the UKBA. They did the same to me on two occasions, though I told them not to stamp my passport. Needless to say, I received an apology from the UKBA, and after my latest journey I did not get stamped. Don't accept less than perfection from Immigration Officers, they get paid to do a job...
