I am a british citizen. I have a child that was born in pakistan, he came to the uk on a pakistani passport on a settlement visa. I want to apply for a british passport for my child, i was wondering if i had to register him as a british citizen before i apply for the passport.

u can apply for working tax credit/child tax credit and child benefit. Apply in your name although tax credits will have to be in joint names, but it wont effect anything in the future

i recently applied for ny wifes ilr set(m)

i would send the p60s, not sure on the other docs but theres no harm in sending them. I would send a doctors letter stating when u registered cost me £30 but its evidence for the letters you require in ur name/joint names

Tax Credits affecting immigration status

I work and was claiming tax credits before my wife came to the uk on a settlement visa. I informed the tax credit people and i was told to make a fresh claim.

I was wondering if claiming tax credits will effect the immigration status or when applying for permanent residency it will cause any problems
