Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Hey guys,

An update from a friend who received her Approval email on 22nd May. She has received an invitation today (25th September) dated 10th September.

Her local authoridy is in Scotland, curious to see how long the booking's going to take.

Good luck everyone!

Re: EU pensioner // New arrival // Pre-settled status

Thank you both! Very much appreciated!

I never thought it'll come to this but hey... and you know mums and dads (after a certain age), they don't take things serious until they get really serious.

Many thanks again guys. This has been really helpful advice and reassurance.

Re: EU pensioner // New arrival // Pre-settled status

Thank you alterhase58. I have read the guidance on gov.uk very carefully before posting here. My question was more specifically in relation to the pretty much fully computerised decision making process with regards to the EU settlement scheme. The guidance is vague when it comes to more specific cas...

EU pensioner // New arrival // Pre-settled status

Hey guys, I searched the forum extensively before posting. Apologies if I've missed any topic that matches this one. My Mum, who is an EU national and currently residing on the Continent will be permanently moving to the UK to join my father (EU national as well, with ILR) who has been living here f...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

Do you need CSI for the year prior submitting the application for naturalisation too? No, because having ILR / Settled under the EU Scheme or a DCPR means you are free from immigration control. You have to be able to show proof of CSI for your qualifying period though (if you have gaps in employmen...

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Process

You know I always ask myself what is the difference between corporate and government organisation (not only management structure). In the firm where I work we have a nominated person, who lives closer to the office and asked the person to go to the office and just send the post/letters (because of ...

Re: EU & Brexit Deal

There is registration in pretty much all other EU member states in one form or another. In some states the applicant will be issued a local ID card, in others will simply have to notify the local council / municipal administration in order to be issued a 'citizen number', or the equivalent of our NI...

Re: Purple Certificate Croatian National

Hello there, What you benefit from is freedom of movement within the EU but this is different from immigration controls, at least in the eye of the Home Office because you (like all other EU nationals residing in another member state) have to meet certain criteria, i.e. exercise Treaty Rights. There...

Re: Failed citizenship application due to PR

My issue is with the way Home Office handled my PR application. Hi Alex, Can you confirm you have used the right EEA application form and have sent it to the correct address? The application forms for RC(QP) and DCPR are different and the departments dealing with them are different. And the support...

Re: PR certificate for EU citizen - job seeker

Hi Ilaria, I'm not an immigratio lawyer or expert but in my view the UK regulations - interpretations of EU law rather - are... vague. The whole CSI thing is basically... not very legal but the EC has more important thing to deal with, especially knowing we're leaving anyway. I don't think they will...

Re: PR certificate for EU citizen - job seeker

CSI Requirement during times you do not work especially if you are not a registered Jobseeker... A settled EU national actively seeking employment and being able to prove that should be okay for periods between jobs up to three months. I haven't heard of people being rejected for that. I would encl...

Re: Applying naturalisation by post

Apart from original documents getting lost ? Yes, that is a fair point, Vinny. You're absolutely right. I hear the Home Office asks more and more applicants to send some original documents later in the process, which documents will have to be returned via post anyway. It's a matter of calculating t...

Re: Applying naturalisation by post

Hi hsyasin, I've done all my immigration / Naturalisation applications via post, never used solicitors or NCS and I haven't had any problems. I would have never used my Council's NCS service anyway, they are extremely rude and VERY expensive. As other members have rightly said, only downside is if y...

Re: AN FORM QUESTION ABOUT SELF EMPLOYED

Oh wow. THAT font was quite large and shouting even for a person with thick glasses  :D You should send them your Statement of Account, they will want to see it. I've been there, sent them my statements for 5 years and they asked me for my most recent one and I had to send them that as well. ...

Re: Croatian national (EU) wanting to stay with her UK partn

Hi there, First, take a deep breath and don't panic. It's not that hard for Croats, yet. If I were you, I would have registered as self-employed (no restrictions there for Croatian nationals), applied for a National Insturance number and started working... anything really. You can do certain jobs as...

Re: EU national family - exercising treaty rights

Hello WhoKnows, I'm not an immigration solicitor but I believe the kids would be fine as they are effectively dependents and the self-employed husband could sponsor them (include them in his application). The wife though will have to prove she had exercised Treaty Right for 5 years. In case she does...

Re: EEA (PR) for a family - single app or multiple

Hi Kamoe, Many thanks for your reply. Absolutely, it's about the practical implementation of the thing as the EEA (PR) application form itself is advisory, not compulsory. They all have solid evidence so it won't really matter, I guess... and they should perhaps just send three individual applicatio...

EEA (PR) for a family - single app or multiple

Dear members, My query is this: Friends of mine, family of 3 (husband and wife, and a 19-year-old son), all EEA nationals would like to apply for DCPRs. They have been here for 12 years. Parents are self-employed, the son finished school last year, having a gap year now before applying to University...

This is the letter that everybody whose application gets an OK receives.

You should receive another letter shortly with your Citizenship Ceremony invitation.

Congratulations! :D

Re: Second Original Documents Request - Residency

If you are an EEA national, passport won't be enough sadly. They will need evidence as European travel is not registered in your passport or on any of their systems. I believe they would want to see your tax for the financial year ending April 2016 paid, plus a letter from HMRC confirming that. If y...

Re: EU Freedom of Movement statistics

The maximum length of the so called Transitional Controls period has been 7 years, imposed by the UK and just a few other countries on Bulgaria and Romania between 2007 and 2014. In EU8's case (the wave of countries joining the EU in 2004), most of the 'old' EU countries imposed a 2-year transitiona...

There could have been a few microns as I've always used scissors, and you can't be 100% precise with them. :-) I have only used photo booths at my local Sainsbury's for pretty much all of my IDs, including my Driving Licence years ago, I've had a Registration Certificate with the Home Office before,...

You shouldn't worry too much as other members have already advised. I can confirm that when I received my first British Passport, the photos submitted were trimmed (no blank / white area). Mine was a direct application with HMPO via post, it all went without issues. The guidance actually advises app...

Re: Brexit court defeat for UK government

There's another dimention of the single market debate. It will be interesting to see how law will be interpreted when it comes to the EEA. The Single Market is effectively the popular name of the EEA. Members of the EEA are the EU states and the EFTA countries. And there's an interesting fact there,...
