English Language confusion

Hi everyone, After my husband went to apply for citizenship through the nationality checking service with the local council, an issue was brought up and it's made me hugely confused. Apparently we were supposed to get his degree assessed for whether it matches a bachelor's degree AND English languag...

Re: English requirement query

I was just reading through the forum because my husband is hoping to apply for citizenship. Before filling the form I had gone through the calculator with the understanding that if the university is in the list, it's fine, but now we input the specifics of the degree, it returns 0 points! It's a Bac...

About applying in Europe - I saw on the list for EEA FP supporting documents that people who arent citizens in the country where they apply should show a residence document. Obviously my husband wouldn't have one because we live in the UK - as it is he can't even get a Schengen visa to go abroad tro...

I'm just looking at the original stamp we got back then. It reads: Leave to enter the United Kingdom is hereby given for/until then the date (6 months from entry) and a reference number. It doesn't specify multiple or single entry. Is this the same as the code 1a stamp you're referring to or is it d...

Thanks Jambo, you make valid points and it does make me feel better hearing about discretion with regards to the 90 days out of the country rule for naturalisation. One more question. If we decided for example to book a ferry and have a little weekend trip wherever in Europe, despite not having a vi...

The main reason for the refusal was that they weren't satisfied the EU national (me) was actually intending to move to the UK. Then they added on some nonsense about our accommodation not being sufficient, when they never even asked for proof. And also that our savings weren't enough to sustain us, ...

Since we have time to travel NOW, not in over 1 year whenever citizenship comes through, indeed waiting is not very practical. I don't know if by that time his job situation would even allow us to travel to India for a long enough duration to justify the costs of the plane ticket! Basically I'm stil...

Difficulty between EEA2 and EEA4

Hi everyone, Having a bit of an issue and I was wondering if anyone had any inputs. My husband (Indian) and I (German) have lived in the UK for over 5 years. His EEA2 permit is expiring today, even though we could've applied for EEA4 in January, his work kept stringing him along with the possiblity ...

could this be a relatively new development? I applied for my passport in 2010, and at that time I read that from 2007 it was made obligatory for all EU countries' passports to include biometric data. I just found this on the same topic http://www.deutsche-mittelstands-nachrichten.de/2012/06/43299/ C...

There was nothing I could find that said fingerprinting was optional. In fact the only information I could find was that everyone needed to be fingerprinted due to another EU regulation (which i suppose they were happy enough to implement) Anyway, latest update, I contacted solvit again (the first t...

Latest update, finally someone else from the German Embassy got back to me and said that they would make a special appointment for us. So rather than make things easier for everyone involved by accepting the postal application, they now realise that not having a free option at all (by not having any...

I appreciate it would be easier to just pay up but as I mentioned, I am sick of embassies just doing whatever they want without any regard for how they are supposed to treat people. From years of living in Asia and watching people running into issues with VFS which didn't exist before the embassies ...

Thanks for the link, I'll have a good read through it now. Just to give a quick update. I just spent the best part of 2 hours reading through German versions of the various regulations so I could quote the relevant bits to the woman I'm arguing with in the German Embassy. Just for fun I also had a l...

I had a response from the German Embassy in which they state that of course family members of EU citizens can get their visa free of charge by making an appointment directly with them and handing in their applica...

And if they refuse I'll complain to the embassy directly that they should accept my application without involving VFS in accordance with EU regulations. Let's see what t...

This doesn't necessarily help because it probably doesn't happen all the time, but I have found on two separate occasions that the French border control in Dover were not bothered about doing any checks at all. One time they just waved us through without looking at our documents, the other time ther...

Schengen visa for family member of EU citizen (German)

Hi Everyone! I'm a German citizen, married to an Indian citizen and we have been living in the UK for over 4 years now. Things used to be pretty straightforward the last time we got a Schengen visa for my husband from the German embassy in London - simply applied by post with the simple 2 page form ...

EEA1 & EEA2 address change? Should I notify?

Hello everyone! Beginning of March, my husband and I applied for EEA1&EEA2. We have received our confirmation letters and are waiting for the Home office to process our applications. We have moved house in the meanwhile (used to live with relatives and now moved out into a flat in a shared house). B...
