Re: Child joining mother who has Spouse residence permit (married to British National)

Take care and thank you again for your advice on this.

Re: Child joining mother who has Spouse residence permit (married to British National)

Thanks again. re: your comment about "Yes, the child could have come during the initial 30 day visa for a short visit to get her brp card and could have returned to home country if necessary." Do you mean that the daughter could have avoided the visa fee and IHS fee totally if she had come during th...

Re: Child joining mother who has Spouse residence permit (married to British National)

Thank you. That is very clear. Out of interest (ignoring the recent uplift in charges) would it have been most cost-effective to make both applications at the same time? The mother is now also in full-time employment in the UK. Can both she and her husband act as sponsors from a financial requiremen...

Child joining mother who has Spouse residence permit (married to British National)

Hi there. I helped a friend of mine (originally from Kosovo but with British Passport) apply for his wife to join him in the UK on a Spouse visa. This was successful in late 2018. When we made the application, we also included in section 55 details of her dependent child who is 10 years old. In sect...

Thanks for the quick response on a Sunday. From the reading of the boards here, I was afraid that was the case.

English Language Test requirements for Naturalisation under EEA Family Member route

i am Irish living in the UK for 20 years (exercising my treaty rights). Have been married to my wife (originally from Asia) for 10 years. She held Family Permit for 6 years and then applied under the EEA route for a PR card. She has now held Permanent Residence Card (Residence Card of a Family Membe...

Please help - Visit visa application for Italian resident (not citizen)

I'm helping a friend of mine who lives in the UK and is shortly going to have her first baby. She wants to invite her sister (and maybe her sister's daughter) to visit the UK for 2-3 weeks to be with her directly after the birth. My friend has lived in the UK for a number of years but is without pap...

Re: Italian resident (Albanian) wishing to come on visit/holiday visa to UK

A related question please. I'm trying to determine whether I should recommend to the sister in Italy apply on her own or along with her daughter. Is she less likely to have a tourist visa approved if travelling with her daughter?

Thanks,

Flann

Hi, I'm helping a friend of mine who lives in the UK and is shortly going to have her first baby. Re: UK Settlement Visa - Question about wife's child

A quick update. We made the application for just his wife to come to the UK but included a covering letter explaining that her daughter (from first marriage) was going to remain overseas until a future date and would them apply to join her mum. It all went fine and the mum received her visa to come ...

Re: Spouse Visa - can we postpone travel for Dependent Child

Thank you. We were originally considering what you suggest which is to defer the child's application until she's ready to travel. Unfortunately, the form for the mum's application requires that she declare any dependants and we do not want to prejudice their ability to bring the child over to the UK...

Hi there. I'm helping my friend (British) apply for his wife from Kosovo to come to live with him in the UK. We have completed (not submitted) all the necessary forms and she has completed her English Language test etc. She has a 9 year old child from a previous marriage (divorced). Her ex-husband i...

Re: UK Settlement Visa - Question about wife's child

thanks. Yes, I had followed that link and have read the "IMMIGRATION DIRECTORATE INSTRUCTIONS, CHAPTER 8 CHILDREN, SECTION FM 3.2" document and it is a bit unclear what form that evidence should take. In this guy's situation, they can demonstrate that the child has lived with the maternal mum (and t...

Re: UK Settlement Visa - Question about wife's child

Thanks for the contributions so far. As I understand it, the husband has been in prison for a number of years; during which time my friends wife has been living with her daughter at her parents house. The husband has had no involvement (financial or other) with the daughter and we expect that if he ...

Re: Irish person settled in UK - Need to apply for ILR?

Thank you both for the very useful response. I'll just submit my Permanent Residency application using EEA(PR). I don't know whether NCS does Perm Residency applications or only Naturalisation. Incidentally, I've checked my old Irish passports and none have ILR stamps. Also, dont know whether this c...

Hi there. Born in the republic of Ireland - hold an Irish (RoI) passport. Have lived and worked in the UK since 1995. Married with a child born in the UK (British Passport holder). Thank you all for the responses

Just to let you know, I have written to the Home Office today asking them for a formal letter advising that I am allowed (or not) to keep the valid Residents Permit in the old passport. If they give me a letter, I will scan it in and post on this forum. At least that will give us some level of comfo...

Changing passports (expiring) - Can I use old Residents Card

Hi there. My wife has a Thai passport that is due to expire in 6 months. She will need to replace it (The Thai embassy wont extend the end date again). She received a Residents Card in the UK last year. What can she do? 1. Can she continue to travel on her old Residents Card (i.e. carry both her old...
