Re: Need some advice on the best route

Looking for some advice on the best visa route for this situation. I've lived with my UK partner outside of the UK for four years and we would like to go to the UK together. I have substantial evidence of the relationship including a joint lease and joint bank account. We do not have proof of incom...

Re: UK banks to check 70m bank accounts in search for illegal immigrants

This is not relevant to the immigration issue discussed. The FCA recently demanded that ALL banks must confirm the identity/addresses of their account holders. This is separate from the HO requirements. Call your bank and ask if you can provide non UK address. Thanks. I panicked for no reason. Phew.

Re: UK banks to check 70m bank accounts in search for illegal immigrants

I got a notice from my bank saying I need to supply evidence of my identity and residency. I am not a resident in the UK. I opened the account when I lived in the UK, but I do not currently live there. Previously my US address was on the account but I needed my new bank card when I was in the UK so ...

Re: Spousal visa savings and applying from abroad

Thanks, Casa, that is very helpful. What would constitute adequate accommodation? (ie does it have to be long term?)

Spousal visa savings and applying from abroad

Apologies because I am sure this has been asked and answered before, but does the UK partner have to be the one with the 62,500 savings, or can the non-UK partner hold the savings in their name? If we have the full amount in savings, do we have to prove anything employment related? When both partner...

I'd suggest also bringing your boyfriend's phone number as well as his mother's phone number in case they want to call to confirm your story. It's surprising how often we don't have these sort of things handy when going through immigration!

Like I said, physicskate, I have no intention of working illegally and have more than enough savings to fund my visit to the UK. As you can probably tell by viewing my previous posts, I do a lot of research to make sure I fully understand all of my options completely. The fact that I'm trying to bet...

You are looking for info about people who have done this, contravening laws of the UK, and whether or not they got away with it is a moot point; it was and continues to be illegal. No, I'm not, actually. If a case was ruled in a the visitor's favor, that wouldn't be contravening the law. I understa...

I'm trying to find more info of the case that I mentioned, if anyone knows about it, I'd appreciate it. I've seen several posts online from people who say they were told by immigration officers that as long as they didn't work in the UK or get paid in GBP, they were okay. I'd like to find some evide...

Freelance online work while on a tourist visa

I'm trying to research the legality of doing freelance writing work while on a UK tourist visa. All of the clients are outside of the UK, payment would not be in GBP and would be deposited into a bank account outside of the UK. I have heard a lot of conflicting info but I can't find anything definit...

Shipping possessions to UK -- does residence visa matter?

If I wanted to ship several boxes of possessions over, will I be charged an import tax if I do not have a valid residence visa? My vague plan is to get married and apply for a spousal visa next year. However, I am not currently living in my home country. My idea to ship my stuff to my partner in the...

Re: 6 months as a tourist?

Thanks for the advice! I think I can answer all of the questions to their satisfaction. Just for peace of mind, I might apply for a visa in advance in my country of residence. You also need to be sure that you will not be doing any of your 'domestic' work for U.S. customers while here in the UK. Thi...

6 months as a tourist?

I'm a US citizen and I'd like to visit my bf in the UK for an extended period of time. My understanding is that I am entitled to 6 months visa-free as tourist because I am a US citizen. I have enough funds to show I can support myself for this period of time (I think). However, I have been told that...

Both sponsor's and applicant's savings can be included. 3.1.2. Income and cash savings must be in the name of the applicant, their partner or jointly. However, only the earned income from the sponsor's employment will be counted. Thanks. This is how I read it as well, but I am finding the document ...

Yikes. Can he use his own savings as well, or just earnings?

When applying for a visa only the UK sponsor's earning will count. When you are in UK, and once you have permission to work, then both the applicant and sponsor can combine their earning to fulfill financial requirement. Thanks. Just to clarify, when initially applying for the visa, can my savings ...

You can defer the visa start date for up to 3 months, but be extremely wary of your fiance's 3-4 months absence as you'll need to meet the £18,600 minimum again when you apply to switch from fiancee to spouse after the wedding. The absence is likely to mean a shortfall in proof of earnings. Thanks,...

Bear in mind that under the new Regulations, unless you have at least £62,000 in savings, your husband will need to show a minimum of 6 months earnings in the UK which equate to an annual salary of £18,600 when you submit your spouse visa application. I was actually just researching this. I am find...

Do I have any visa options?

I'm a US citizen who used to have a HSMP and then a Tier 1 visa. I left the UK (thinking I'd never move back) and my visa expired last year. I'm now in a relationship with a UK citizen and we'd like to move back to the UK. As a self-employed person (I'm a writer) are there any visa options available...

Thanks. Does it make any difference that none of the work I do is for Irish companies? Unless it is for a short term visit (business trip type of thing), I don't think it is legal to live in Ireland but declare your income and pay taxes in another county. My thought was that I could work freelance ...
