Re: Moving from France to UK

Thank you for the reply...but bearing in mind the CV19 situation....it would be tantamount to lunacy to travel form a 'free' area to one which is highly infected!!! Let alone no social distancing on travel, and having to wear masks for days at a time.

Re: Moving from France to UK

Trying to read more on gov.uk site.....they say that biometrics are necessary..?...The only available location is PARIS, some 5.5 hours away.....impossible with small children and current CV19 climate. Also.....to apply she needs to be outside uk (which she is)......but I am also outside uk....is th...

Re: Moving from France to UK

Still confused about Visa(!), If she was allowed to enter the UK under SS application, then surely that would be the entry permission....not a separate visa?

Re: Moving from France to UK

Thanks for the quick reply. Her carte de Sejour is 'Family member of Family of EEA national' and 'all professional activities' so presumably this would qualify under SS route. Her centre of life has been in France and she is on tax returns, in Healthcare system etc. Why would she need a Visa to trav...

Moving from France to UK

Can anyone update me on current procedure/requirements? - probably save a lot of time searching! I am British, my wife is Thai (with Thai passport). We have two young sons who are British. At the moment we live in France but are considering returning to the UK - we have been married for nearly 7 yea...

Re: Surinder Singh back to UK

A hypothetical question, assuming that post Brexit things will not be too much different. I am British, we have two sons who are British, my wife is Thai with a Carte de Sejour and we all are classed as resident in France for several years. IF I got run over by a bus and died.......would my wife hav...

Re: Article 10 Residence card - entry to UK

Yes, I understand it may be 'gaming the system' but it could be done that way I guess......

Not possible to go to Uk before 29 March - big house here....garden would get overgrown etc etc.....it needs looking after, and it's not the type of house to rent out - it's too big.

Re: Article 10 Residence card - entry to UK

Yes...a right mess of uncertainty. Do people think there would be any issue in applying NOW for a residents card, using my sisters uk address as our address? At least (probably?) that would then be valid for 5 years?

Re: Article 10 Residence card - entry to UK

Thanks for the very clear information. "So, what you can do is, you come to the UK with your wife, she enters using her Article 10 card, then she applies inside the UK for a Residence Card through the Surinder Singh route (before March 29th). " My problem /uncertainty is that before we move back to ...

Re: Article 10 Residence card - entry to UK

Just to recap.....I am UK national...my wife is Thai.....she has French resident card...I (we) have paid taxes etc in France since 2013......we have two children....both british....I am retired.....se...

Re: Surinder Singh back to UK

Re: Article 10 Residence card - entry to UK

Thanks for all the in information.I have decided that it is probably more prudent to plough on with my original plan and apply for EEA Family Permit using the Surinder Singh route.

Re: Article 10 Residence card - entry to UK

what's RC??? (Residents Card?)
Is applying for that or Settled Status at a later date almost a formality? What is involved in applying for those? or is it pretty much the same process/documents as applying for EEA Family Permit in the first place?

Article 10 Residence card - entry to UK

Living in France for several years with my Thai wife I was going to apply via EEA Family for us to both return to the UK to live (using the Surinder Singh route). However, I came across this government article: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/entering-the-uk-as-the-holder-of-an-article-10...

Re: Surinder Singh back to UK

Thanks for that information - was the form 100+ pages? Did you have to attend any interviews?
Also a thought crossed my mind - when submitting documentation, eg copies of everything (presumably uploaded?) or any of them) need to be certified as true copies?

Surinder Singh back to UK

My (Thai) wife obtained a UK Visa (when in Thailand - Leave to Remain) in 2014 , but we subsequently decided to live in France in 2015 and did not renew. We have now decided that we wish to return to the UK to live permanently (although I do not have a property there - we will purchase a house outri...

Re: Visiting UK with French Resdients card.

I am a non French citizen who is resident in France. I am from the UK and have a UK Passport. My wife's CDS does say "issued under Article 10 of Directive 2004/38/CE of a family member of European Union". NB: Note that it says 38/CE not 38/EC. So it seems we can just turn up at eurotunnel and enter ...

Visiting UK with French Resdients card.

I have tried contacting the UK Visas and Immigration in Sheffield and Croydon by email. Either no reply or up to 20 days to reply. I have tried telephoning, but all I get are automated menus bearing no relation to my enquiry, on premium rate numbers mostly I might add - I thought all government depa...

Re: Travel to France/Switzerland, without visa

Sorry about the delay in coming back on this. We plan to go to France next in March/April. We intend to live there permanently once our house in the UK is sold (we alreay have a house in France). I am retired. Yes I know we should apply for a Carte de Sejour within two months, although in fact my wi...

Thanks - I wondered about that. We live in South wales, so would have to take bus/train to London and would involve overnight stay.
I would add that we ARE living in the UK.....

Travel to France/Switzerland, without visa

My Thai wife wants to travel to France for some months with me. I am British/UK Passport. She has a Leave to Remain Visa valid until August 2017 inside her Thai passport. For us to travel to London (with a young son) to obtain a Schengen VIsa is not really practical and would be expensive. If we app...

Travel from UK to Germany

My Thai wife has UK Settlement Visa. She wishes to visit her sister and family in Germany in August on her own. I was planning to have to apply for Schengen Visa (but not easy to get to London to apply in person). However, I have just read about UK Residence card(??), which was new to me. a) can my ...
