Not to hijack the thread, but I note that there is a faster way to apply "in person" for people with emergency requirements (travel etc) As you can see below, there is a way to speed up receipt of passport, and it increases on a per-cost basis. As long as you have your approval letter by hand and the valid multi-reentry visa you will be fine. In your case you may not be required the re-entry visa.
