Re: Surrendring Indian passport

Hi all, Can someone confirm whether the Original Naturalisation Certificate is needed on the day of application? If not - I can apply for UK passport straightaway. If required, I will have to surrender passport first and then apply for UK passport. Any knowledgeable input, especially based on person...

2x2 photographs

How have members on this forum gone about getting a 2in x 2in pictures done for the purpose of surrendering Indian passport (and I'm assuming for OCI as well)? Traditional 'passport size' in the UK is different, so I'm wondering what is a convenient way of getting a 2in x 2in size done. Thank you fo...

Re: NDRS+JCAP - Passport Fees deduct

Hello. Two questions please. 1- I have Form AN ready to go (paper version) , including referee section. If I choose to go NDRS route, then I understand the application is online but have to submit supporting documents separately. Question - can I use the referee section from the paper application fo...

Wrong forum.

From what I remember PIO needs renewal whilst OCI is for life. Overall I think OCI is a better option if you're elligible for it. HCI London website has all the info on it.

That's not what an Indefinite Leave to Remain is for! Are you intending to settle in the UK?

UKBA customer service told me that not all PEO appointments get displayed on the user's online account, but if I have a confirmation email then that's fine. For my peace of mind they confirmed that my appoin...

Is this an Indian passport you are talking about? If so, the ECR has some exemptions listed - if memory serves me right it's not required for travel to North America, Europe and some other countries. Do check on the passport.

I appreciate it might be required for certain jobs but barring that small possibility I believe you're putting yourself under a lot of ...

Erm, the discussion was about the OP thinking about getting another tourist visa, and my response was specifically for that. Are you saying tourists can study on a tourist visa? Did I ever say that? there is nothing called a 'tourist visa' - it's a 'visitor visa' and issued for either a general vis...

Let's keep this simple. Studying is not allowed on a tourist visa. NRE accounts only accept foreign currency deposits which are then converted to INR. So NRE account won't work for what you are looking to do. There is an option to open an NRO account which only accepts INR deposits, but again, this is no good for you either. If you find a workable solution to this ...

Take as much proof with you as possible to convince them that you are aware of the rules and are prepared to apply for an extension right away.

For what it's worth - I have been allowed re-entry a month before my T1G expiry - no questions asked - at LHR.

I second this. A return ticket goes a long way to prove that she has every intention of returning back - along with proof of other ties to the home country.

I had this issue back in August. When I called the customer service line they said as long as I have received an email confirming the appointment that should suffice. Just take a printout of this email with you on the day.

For your peace of mind you might want to call UKBA helpline yourself.

This is quite interesting. Your child is (was) eligible for both nationalities at birth, and you as the parent chose for Indian nationality (fair enough). Re: Is H1-B the only *main* way to work in the US ?

And if it is the case that H1-B is the only route, then I guess I have to get selected by Microsoft ? That's a bit extreme! Surely there are other companies in the US who sponsor H1B applications - you just need to find them. Overall, yes - H1B (and L1 - which you're already aware of) is the only v...
