Don't worry! It is just a matter of waiting for 3 more weeks ..... it will be clear on 13-Dec-12 whether it is 180 or 900 days in a five year period. These documents are what's going to be implemented on 13 December. I don't know what other documents are going to shed light on it. Also, the subject...

jager, broccoli - read the immigration rule .. I have quoted it in the response above. It is available under paragraph 116 of the document. In order for ILR to be granted, (i)the applicant has been absent from the UK for a period of 180 days or less in any of the five consecutive 12 month periods p...

sushdmehta wrote:IMHO, the 90 days single absence may be dropped but it seems that 180 days in 5 years will be followed very strictly.
I read it as up to 180 days per year in every year (i.e. up to 900 days in total) are permitted. If so, that seems to be less stringent than before.

Acknowledgement letter - change of policy?

I applied via NCS about a month ago - fees have been deducted but I still haven't received an acknowledgement letter. So I called them today and they said that if application is made via NCS they don't send an acknowledgement, only for postal. Can anyone else confirm this?

They know. Does it matter how? I really question whether they actually do know your past movements, on the basis of their current systems. I submitted a SAR asking this specific information, and all they could come up with was my very first entry card on the basis of my then visa. I had extensive t...

I'm tempted to put in an FOI request asking them whether their interviewers undergo behavioural detection training, from whom, the cost to the taxpayer and the rate of rejected applicants since it was introduced.

ILR success @ Sheffield with 300 days absence

I was granted ILR on Friday at Sheffield; route was UK ancestry. Croydon was closer but I'd heard such bad things about it that I decided to go north. Appointment was at 2pm, arrived at 1:20pm, process all over by 3pm. As others have commented it is a small and rather uncomfortable waiting area wher...

Agreed - and before it was introduced they were applying the 14 year rule on an informal basis anyway. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-or...
