By the way: Regarding reasons for applying earlier I did not provide any proof regarding mortage applications etc. Instead I had mailed home office asking that do i need to give any evidence in this regard and was sent a reply that i do not need to give any eveidence and just a cover letter would do...

I think the Home Office guidelines say the ILR Time is calculated based on the date of issue of the Visa and not the actual date of entry and if you come in the country later than the date of entry then that is considered as an absence.
