Check the process time sticky. 10 days is still early for any acknowledgement. As always with the HO, a good indication would be when the fee is taken. Yes, had checked the sticky and saw quite a few people getting acknowledgements in a few days. Thanks to the other June applicants for clarifying -...

Thailand Travel on Indian Passport & British Citizenship

Hi, I have gone through a few threads on this forum (though not very easy to find for my specific example) and believe I have up to 3 months from the date I am conferred as a British Citizen to stop using my old Indian passport The issue we have is 1. Applying for Naturalization mid June 2. Expectin...

Thanks guys, While I was and am confident, I still decided it was best to check with you all first. It should not be an issue, he is British (with a valid or expired passport), and at the time of application he will hold a completely valid passport. I was looking for some re-affirmation of what I be...

Sponsor is British but passport about to expire

Been a while since I posted and a year has flown by. Completing formalities and filling the AN form I have 2 sponsors lined up, close family friends, but one of them just told me that their passport expires in August 2012 and we are applying for citizenship mid June. So at the time of applying, he w...

I'd like to add that irrespective of the issues in the UK, jobs are still there for the taking but it's all down to if your profile is a perfect fit for the role. Asking a question if UK or Australia is better only taking career prospects into account is not easy to answer as there may not be anyone...

Harry,

If you do have 5 years in the UK then you stand a good chance, even in this climate....be patient, get an updated and concise CV out in the market and you will surely get a few calls shortlisted......once again, 5 years in the local market and field is really good....all the best to you

I know I may get more flak from the 'great one' for writing this but honestly, dont wast your time stating the obvious or pointing out flaws in logic at those who dont bother to listen :P All said and done, from my relatively simplistic and inexperienced life, recruitment firms are a more proven way...

I dont think there is any point clarifying things with Nshar1 as he seems to be take things personally and shows a lot of immaturity on how to progress a logical discussion

Direct recruitment is something which people do not try. It is a very effective mean of getting interviews. Another effective mean of getting interviews is thru referrals. I have had interviews and offers with so many companies where my friends have been working. This is why I sometimes lose patien...

You should never put your references on your CV. Instead put "References available upon request". That is a wasted of a line. Of course reference are available upon request. Otherwise you would not be a good candidate. There are candidates who refuse reference checks and do not want to supply refer...

Everyone with experience knows that technical skills can be picked up while on the job - I dont meant totally new skills but those that are similar to what you already know of. So the CV clearly confirms your skill set and how close a fit you are for the role. The following interview is when they co...

Well, if you have savings to pay for rent and living for a few months then there's nothing better than being here in person to attend interviews. Your chances are restricted if recruitment agents and companies know you are not available locally and unless you have a unique skill they will defer your...

Can you give a breakdown of your immigration and Work Permit dates?

On what basis are you saying you qualify on Sept 12th?
1. Do you complete 5 years on Sept 12th?
2. Do you complete 5 years on Oct 10th and can apply 28 days earlier on Sept 12th?

Shruti, lets be realistic here - what are your chances in your home country if you just have a degree and 0 years experience? With so many local home grown talents with degrees jobless in the market, there is no reason what so ever to even look at a graduate from another country with qualifications ...

As Mulderpf has said, most companies only hike to adjust for inflation and if they follow the RPI correctly, its 5% at the moment. On another note, companies that increase salary just for inflation usually have a performance linked bonus - else noone would work for a private company if they r effect...

Were you asking about ILR or extension? Your question looked more towards your future ILR and not an extension. For extension, there is nothing to worry about as per rules right now, as long as you meet the required points to extend - there is nothing to do with how long you were out of the country ...

Yes, it is too soon, as the rules when you are eligible may change a lot. Also, its all guess work now, but you entered the UK legally on 5th June 2009 and as long as you can prove you are employed, in the year you qualify should be fine. But again, no one can state for sure now as rules are changin...

I have been working as a contractor for 5 years, and never ever have I faced/heard issues wherein the job agency has refused a CV because the person worked as a contractor. On the contrary, the companies are keen to get contractors to become perm employees. This is true atleast in financial\investm...
