Re: Can I travel before I get my UK passport

Understood. So basically just hold off on applying for my UK passport, and travel using my foreign passport. And apply for the UK one when I return from my trip.

Can I travel before I get my UK passport

I have done my BC ceremony and haven’t yet applied for a UK passport which I’m planning to do this week. However, I have some emergency family matter to attend to so will need to travel to Asia for a week asap, but this means I won’t have my UK passport in time. Can I still travel or there is no opt...

Re: Please help!! Supporting document

I do have letter from previous employer to confirm of my resignation and I do have contracts from both old and new employers. However I'm just not sure how this would prove my legal continuous stay during the 5 year period :(. Don't you have P60s covering that time? You can always include what coun...

Please help!! Supporting document

Hi, I'm going to submit my application at the NCS this Friday. I'm a little unsure about the supporting documents required esp to prove the continuous legal stay in the UK in the past 5 years. G In the guide booklet it says that applicant need to send in the passport AND a letter from employer or ed...

Re: SET(O) Croydon PEO Tier 2 successful

Did you have a cover letter ? Yes but it didn't mention anything about the name, the cover letter only listed out the documents I submit together with my application. But having a cover letter doesn't hurt and it helps to have a peace of mind. Important to make sure the test centre make a note in t...

Re: SET(O) Croydon PEO Tier 2 successful

No single question asked. My whole application was under consideration for about 30-40 minutes before it was ready for collection. On the pass notification, it shows my last name as my first name and first name as last name, basically they got swapped. I contacted the test centre and ask them to mak...

Re: ILR – continuous period in the UK

The 12 month counting will start from the date you submit your application. So given that April has passed, you cannot use 1 April as a starting point to count your 12 months. But to answer your question, you can be flexible and pick your application date so that the 222 days absences can be split b...

Re: Continuous residence question

If you start counting from June you will need to count the 2 months as absences from the UK, it's 2 months so about 60 days you're fine as long as the total days outside the UK don't exceed 180 days per every 12 months of the 5 years. Or if not, you can start counting your 5 years from August (in ca...

Re: Absence from UK -Please Help

My answer is no to all of your yes/no question. Have a look in my case here: http://www.immigrationboards.com/indefinite-leave-to-remain/set-o-croydon-peo-tier-2-successful-t186744.html I got my ILR approved and there wasn't any letter from my employer regarding my absences or holiday entitlement ex...

Re: Continuous residence question

Will appreciate if someone answer this please. I switched from a Tier 4 to Tier 2 General in June 2013 in-country (for a job starting in August 2013) but then left the UK for 2 months and came back just before the job start in August. When does my Tier 2 continuous residence period start for ILR pu...

SET(O) Croydon PEO Tier 2 successful

My ILR application was approved today at Croydon PEO. Such a big relief and I'm so happy. I have been worried, paranoid, stressed out about this for years esp with my long absences in 2012. I have been on this forum posting questions, reading advices to keep my sanity (but sometimes I got freaked ou...

Re: Urgent - UK absences Employer letter

Since you are on Tier 2 G visa I would strongly recommend get the letter from your employer. I don't see why your employer won't provide you this letter. It is better to give the letter and play safe than be sorry. What exactly need to be mentioned in the letter can you please advise? The solicitor...

Another Life in the UK last/first name error

So this seems like a common enough problem. Because on the website, they ask for Last name first, then First name. So for those who didn't read it carefully enough would got the 2 switched around :(. I did my test and passed and the certificate got my first and last names the other way around. All o...

Re: the 28 days rule - confused when I can apply for ILR

Thanks CR001, I thought so regarding the date. As for the biometric card. I applied for tier 2 extension in 2013, so I have my new card. But I couldn't find my old card (the one from 2010 to 2013), and I'm not sure if I lost it or because UKBA kept it when I applied for the extension and didn't retu...

the 28 days rule - confused when I can apply for ILR

Gurus/experienced members please help. 1) I got my tier 2 general visa in country issued date on 15 June 2010. I was already in the UK during that whole time (on student visa). 2) My first day physically at work was 15 July 2010. 3) I then travel out of the country for a new hire trip and back in th...

Re: Changing job just 1 month before ILR

Thanks physickate. No expense really incur for me as they pay for everything. As for the COS what I meant was the company will issue the COS and will have a solicitor do my tier 2 for me, and I will not have a copy or ever get to see my COS to check my start date. What I'm worried is, they put the s...
