Thank you :D Yes you attend the appointment together. We were asked a few things like "where did you get married?" Obviously they have this information and she asked questions quite casually but as my husband is very bad at renembering dates I had made sure he knew the important ones beforehand! So ...

ILR Set (M) success - Solihull PEO

Hi all I thought it would be helpful to share our experience last week. These are the documents we took to the appointment, organised into separate sections (all with photocopies): 1. Application form Set (M), photos and covering letter (letter was not needed) 2. Passports (mine and husband's) 3. ES...

Hi there We are applying for ILR set M later this year and I just want to be sure I have the right info. So, you should apply for a PEO appointment 42 days before you need the appointment, which can be up to 28 days before the end of the 2 years - is that right? So if my husband came on 11th Nov 201...

ILR Set (M) - straightforward application?

Hi there My husband's spouse visa expires on 14th Jan 2013 - it was a 27 month visa so the earliest we could apply is 11th October 2012 (he came on 11th Nov 2010). We were going to opt for the premium appointment as we are planning to visit his country this Christmas (and have booked tickets!!). How...

Thank you Casa, that is good to know - especially as he is dyslexic so he will need all the help he can get! The KOL route is obviously much cheaper so we have ordered the book and CD so will see how difficult it is before deciding which route to go...

Thanks very much for your help guys - I think he may have to do the ESOL course then as his English isn't that great (he needs a course anyway), but I will have a look at the KOL book in case!

English requirement for ILR application

Hi all I have looked on the UKBA website and this forum, but I'm still really confused about what my husband has to do for his ILR application. Does he have to do an ESOL course or only pass a test at A1 level? and what about KOL test? He isn't from an English-speaking country. And if so, can anyone...

I think it should be fine as long as it's an authorised overdraft and he submits a budget to show that he has enough left over after rent, council tax etc to support you.

Which country are you applying from? I had an overdraft similar to yours - I did pay it off just before applying but I also explained in my sponsor letter that it was an authorised overdraft i had used for years. I also submitted a list of essential outgoings with amounts for each to show that I had...

Overstay - spouse visa issued

Hi all I just wanted to tell you about friends of ours in case it helps anyone else. They have been together for several years (he is a UK citizen), but one of them was an overstayer. They wanted to get married here but finally realised that they needed to go back to her country to get married, whic...

Hi We got our marriage certificate and a few other important documents translated officially but other things like letters from family we translated ourselves. There is something in the guidance that says you can provide a summary in English - but don't do that for vital documents such as marriage c...

Hi everyone. OK, my husband has had an e-mail from NY consulate saying that they are making further enquiries and will make a decision as soon as possible. Now I'm panicking - is this a bad sign or just standard procedure because he was refused a student visa in UK in May and told to leave? I'm also...

Hi there. I was wondering whether I can visit my husband in Chile while we are waiting for his spouse visa? We got married in July and he had his appointment to put in the papers on 26th August. We have no idea how long it will take, they said around 6-8 weeks but he was refused a visa and told to l...

Hi, what a horroble shock for you especially when you're pregnant. If I were you I would go to somewhere like the Immigration Advisory Service (look on google) as they can give you free or low cost advice depending on your circumstances. Good luck x

Ok i've been to the bank but they will only give me a printout, unsigned, with a brief covering letter.
