Meeting the AQUAL and ELPS requirements for naturalisation with NARIC certificate

My spouse has recently been granted ILR, having completed the five-year partner route to settlement. She’s now been here five years and was in the UK exactly 3 years ago, so is eligible to apply for naturalisation. When my spouse first obtained leave to remain in the UK, she met the English require...

Re: Will spouse still require a Schengen visa after obtaining ILR?

Sorry, just one further question. If the applicant has just had biometrics done for an ILR application do they need to be done again for the citizenship application?

Currently some members are getting approval within 6-8 weeks, so worth doing as soon as you can then you are all done and dusted with HO.
Thank you for that additional info - it's very encouraging. Fingers crossed!

P.S. Yes, she meets the requirements for citizenship so just one more hurdle to get over! :)

Will spouse still require a Schengen visa after obtaining ILR?

Hi, a quick question as I couldn't find an answer on the forum. My spouse is currently in the process of applying for ILR. Once she has obtained settled status, will she still require a Schengen visa to travel in the EEA if I am accompanying her on the trip? (I am a British citizen) Many thanks in a...

Citizenship application - does spouse need to submit her passport?

Dear Forum, My wife is eligible to apply for ILR in December and having completed the 5-year route to settlement, I believe she will be eligible to apply for British Citizenship by naturalisation as soon as ILR is granted. When she applies for Citizenship will she need to send her passport away with...

Re: Where can you travel to on FLR without an additional visa?

A residence permit in this sense is PR or settled status under the EEA regs or Appendix EU and not ILR under the UK Immigration Rules Appendix FM. I see. I wasn't aware that there was a difference between the two systems in terms of entitlement to free movement, but clearly there is. Many thanks fo...

Re: Where can you travel to on FLR without an additional visa?

She will still need a Schengen visa if she holds ILR. This is what is stated at on the European Union website at; https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/entry-exit/non-eu-family/index_en.htm Visa exemptions Your non-EU spouse, (grand) children or (grand) parents do not need to get a visa from...

Re: Where can you travel to on FLR without an additional visa?

If you are a British citizen, then, in theory, while the UK is a part of the EU, your wife can travel without a visa to any other part of the EU if she is accompanied by you. The problem typically arises because airline staff are not aware of the nuances of EU law and will likely refuse you permiss...

Where can you travel to on FLR without an additional visa?

Sorry if I’ve posted this in the wrong area of the forum – it’s a bit of a random question. My non-EU spouse is currently on FLR, and we were wondering where we could go for a short break (outside of England, Scotland & Wales) without having to go through the rigmarole of getting a Visa. I’m pretty ...

Re: Meeting the financial requirement with cash savings in an overseas bank account

Can your bank mail your original bank statements to you? The statements have to satisfy Appendix FM- SE . Yes, I think they can, although I presently receive them online. Many thanks you for the link. I can see now that original bank statements can be used as standalone evidence. It's only copies o...

Meeting the financial requirement with cash savings in an overseas bank account

Dear Forum, My spouse is almost at the end of the five-year route to settlement and will be applying for ILR at the end of the year. We intend to meet requirements through cash savings as this will be more straightforward than through employment in our case. I am of the understanding that we will cu...

I am posting this for the attention of all those who are about to take the Life in the UK Test , so you know what to expect. Re: Time running out to meet FR - what's our best bet?

They could rely on the House sale without the need to wait for 6 months, provided the asset they sold to get the savings has been held for a period of 6 months or longer. This is correct, and I believe it applies to any asset that you have proof of ownership of. Fortunately I have owned my house lo...

Time running out to meet FR - what's our best bet?

I'm a British citizen and the sponsor for my wife, who is a non-EU citizen. We moved to the UK in December 2014 so we're halfway through the 5-year route, and about to apply for FLR. My wife's current visa expires on the 10th September . I've been working for the last couple of years but unfortunate...

Dear Forum, I am British and the sponsor for my wife, who is a non-EU citizen. We moved to the UK in December 2014, so we're halfway through the 5-year route and compiling evidence for an FLR(M) application next month. My wife has an overseas degree which meets the English requirement CEFR C1, and w...
