Tier-2 Extension Queries

Hello All, My current Tier-2 General expires on the 17th of January, 2017. I am with the same company although my role has slightly changed. I am wondering if I should already start the renewal discussions with the company and request them to get the ball rolling or do I still have some time? My 2nd...

Tier-2 extension dependent on passport validity?

Hello, I have been on Tier-2 general here since Nov-2013 and it's up for renewal again this November for a possible 2 years so that I qualify for ILR. My current Indian passport is valid till January 2018 - I believe the duration of Tier-2 extension isn't dependent on the validity left on the passpo...

Re: Visa for new born baby - now or together with my visa on

You can travel freely to Scotland, they use the same visas that you have as they are part of the UK. Thanks - however as said earlier I am not planning on applying for the visa of my baby (to be born) and will do so when ours come up for renewal towards the end of the year - so that shouldn't be an...

Thank you so much.

How does the immigration checks work - say for instance we wanted to travel to Scotland with the baby, Scotland is part of UK so we haven't left the country as such and hence shouldn't need a visa - or I am asking for trouble risking it?

Re: Visa for new born baby - now or together with my visa on

Not sure when you would qualify for ILR but your UK born child would not need a visa at all if you have absolutely no plans to travel and baby can register as British as soon as your ILR is granted. Thanks for your reply - I am currently in my 3rd year of the Tier-2 General, so still a couple years...

Visa for new born baby - now or together with my visa on ext

Hello all, My current Tier-2 general is valid till December 2016 - and I would be renewing it again in the 3rd week of November through my company. We are also due our 2nd baby in March 2016 and don't foresee any travels for the rest of the year. So my question is do I need to still apply for a visa...

Re: Tier 2 General Visa Extension and ILR

You do not hold a Tier 2 General that was issued prior to April 2011. Tier 2 ICT is irrelevant in your case. 6 years applies to your time on Tier 2 G only as you have held this since 2013. You will qualify for ILR in December 2018 as has already been advised. Brilliant - clear and concise - puts my...

Re: Tier 2 General Visa Extension and ILR

6 years applies to Tier 2 General, not Tier 2 ICT time. Have you read the link that sushdmehta has provided, it is very clear. 1. You are subject to the 6 year limit restriction ( 245HE(b) ). I did read it and the text is as below :- (b) The 6 year restriction set out in (a)(iv) will not apply if t...

Re: Tier 2 General Visa Extension and ILR

I see this one http://www.immigrationboards.com/uk-tier-2-employer-sponsored-visas/oct-14-change-in-rules-switching-from-t2-ict-to-t2g-t174306.html, which seems to suggest I can get a visa extension beyond Dec 2016 (as that's when I would complete 6 years cumulative), if I can't get it extended beyo...

Re: Tier 2 General Visa Extension and ILR

Thanks for the reply, so that 6 year restriction would be on my tier 2 general right and not a cumulative 6 years from the day I entered the UK I.e. Dec 2010 right, so when I extend in Jan 2017 I will get a visa valid for another 3 years such that I can apply for ILR in Dec 2018 ?

So are you saying that switch in-country from one visa category to other in Tier-2 is not part of this quota? My case is a switch from Tier-2 ICT(Established Long Term Staff) to Tier-2 General, so is that exempt from the quota limits as well? Woah woah woah. Hold the phone. In theory, you are exemp...

Hi, Can someone please tell me if there is any way to find out how many Tier-2 General Category Visas have been granted this year?
