Re: Path to Surrender of Indian Passport to get OCI

Hi sorry, just came back here. Hoping you have got it done now. HCL confirmed to me over the phone that one appointment is enough. I am going through the process later this month and will update it over here. Thanks for this. I have surrendered my Indian passport today. Do we need to book two separa...

Re: Path to Surrender of Indian Passport to get OCI

I have always taken my own Royal Mail envelopes and VFS has confirmed over the phone that I can do it this time also.

Hello ji,
Just wanted to know if we have to take self addressed special delivery envelopes for surrender of passport or some service is available at the Vfs.
Thankyou.

Re: Path to Surrender of Indian Passport to get OCI

The postage charges at VFS is always extra. You can take your own Royal Mail postage and give it to them. They try to sell you their service and it's your choice if you wish to use that or not. I have always used Royal Mail in the past. Let's see if they accept it this time or not. Good luck with th...

Re: Path to Surrender of Indian Passport to get OCI

Yes, in summary that is correct. I am going through the process myself so cannot update the timeline. On this forum, many have shared the timeline which might be helpful. Once, I have been through the process, I will update my post. Hi all Could I please use your expertise to check if I got this rig...

Re: Path to Surrender of Indian Passport to get OCI

Hi, I spoke with HCL and they said that only appointment with HCL is enough. After that, we can walk-in the VFS to submit the documents. I am getting ready for my HCL appointment so cannot say if this will work or not. Once I am through the process, I will update the post. Step 2: Renunciation of In...

Re: Missing stamp of arrival in the UK

One more query: Do I need to sign the Cover Letter or just upload the soft copy (word document or pdf) without signature? No rules for that - however, personally I would always add my personal data and ref number at a minimum, signing won't make a difference as you have already agreed to T&Cs when ...

Re: Missing stamp of arrival in the UK

Apologies, got another question now: I spoke with the 2nd referee yesterday who is now unwilling to be a refereee, and not giving any good reason why, but have asked if someone else can be the referee. I am not sure what to do now as the forms are submitted. I read that in cover letter, we can prov...

Re: Missing stamp of arrival in the UK

Presumably you can still upload documents? Yes, I can. Get another referee to sign and upload with an explanatory note. Caseworker will check that you have provided appropriate referees, won't delve into reason why someone else didn't want to sign as referee. This is a common occurence - unfortunat...

Re: Missing stamp of arrival in the UK

There no reason to provide any alternative evidence for an absence of 30 days. ILR holders normally only provide their passports for residency, i.e. scan of personal detail pages and stamped pages. Thank you so much for this help. So, I only need to upload scanned pages of my passport where they ha...

Re: Missing stamp of arrival in the UK

This instruction is primarily for EU citizens who never got stamped in. How long were you away on holidays? Clearly if you want to attach additional documents you can of course. A few weeks aren’t an issue. Thank you. We were away for 30 days only. Actually there is a document upload requirement be...

Re: Missing stamp of arrival in the UK

This shouldn't be an issue. You do not have to provide proof of every absence. Thank you for your response. In the required documentation, they are asking for Proof of living in the UK for 5 years and suggesting "If you do not have your passport or it was not stamped when you entered the UK, you ne...

Thank you Vinny. Apologies for not coming back on this quickly as had been away for a while due to personal work. So, I apply in March/April and get Son register and then his British passport. My wife can stay on Tier2 Dependent until Oct and then she can apply for ILR following long residency basis...

Re: ILR for wife and settlement of child

Thank you CR001. So, please confirm if I am getting it right: 1. I can apply for ILR anytime after March'17 2. My wife can apply for ILR anytime after Sept'17 (given she is not travelling once I apply for ILR) and she doesn't need to go onto FLR(M). Her clock will not reset after I get the ILR becau...
