Re: First passport after receiving certificate

I would just add that sometimes passport applications can be done faster if it is an urgent need, such as a family emergency. I have no idea what proof you would need to give or how quickly it could be processed though, or whether it's been affected by Covid-19, but here's the link to the passport w...

Re: What is my immigration status if I leave UK for 2 and 1/2 months without obtaining the Certificate of Naturalisation

Citizenship ceremonies going forward have all been cancelled due to coronavirus measures. Councils are waiting on further information from the Home Office on what next steps are. So I don't think you can book a ceremony currently anyways. We'll have to see what happens - considering that it is possi...

Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I'm in Southwark, London and I was supposed to have my ceremony on the 30th. Yesterday I got a call and had my ceremony brought forward to tomorrow - they were trying to do smaller ceremonies and get as many done as possible (anticipating there being a shut down in near future). Now I get a call tod...

Re: unpaid internships and employment history

I am wondering if I don't list unpaid internships and volunteer work under employment, should I mention at the end that I did some unpaid/volunteer work and could give information if they feel they need it? So as to avoid potential "deception" if I don't mention it? (sidenote: I am posting this amon...

jobs listed on landing card while unemployed - deception?

During times when I was neither employed nor self-employed (and so didn't file taxes) I have listed artist/designer as my job on occasion on landing cards when returning to the UK. Could this disparity be considered deception? I honestly was not making money at the time but listed the above due to d...

Referee forms - online application vs printed

I'm filling out the online application and wondering if it's possible to get the referees to sign the form beforehand? Is the form that is given at the end of the application the same as the one found here: https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/documents/1st_Referee_Declaration_MN1.pdf ..or is it...

Employment status on Landing cards vs application

For the section on employment status, during the time in question I have been supported by my partner while either studying or doing volunteer work and unpaid internships. Since I haven't earned enough money during this period to be obliged to file a tax return, I have never filed one in the UK. Som...

Re: Questions on timing of application and unemployed status

Thanks for the advice!
(and apologies for posting twice, I couldn't find my post and there were no notifications I could find to tell me what happened so I assumed it didn't work).

Qs: Volunteer work, lack of tax returns?

I will soon be able to apply for naturalisation. I have been unemployed for a long time, sometimes studying and sometimes being supported by my partner. I have done a variety of volunteer work and unpaid creative gigs and occasionally very small casual paid gigs but never earned enough to owe taxes....

process timing Qs: apply, book biometric appt, get referee signatures?

I have ILR and will be eligible to apply for naturalisation in a few weeks. I will be going traveling a couple days after so I am wondering whether to apply online before the trip or wait until I return because I am a bit confused about the timing of things under the new system. If I apply online ri...

Questions on timing of application and unemployed status

I have ILR and will be eligible to apply for naturalisation in a few weeks. I will be going traveling starting a few days after that date, returning 11 days later, so I am wondering whether to apply online before the trip or wait until I return because I am a bit confused about the timing of things ...
