I got ILR and my baby boy got citizenship. But I don't want British passport for him so I am going to apply for Indian passport next week. If they ask for home office letter confirming that he didn't get citizenship then I will be in problem otherwise it should be fine. If your son is already Briti...

Let me tell you something. The infrastructure and economy of Eastern block EU countries and Malta/Cyprus are not good. For holiday they are ok but living there permanently, I think you better stay in India. Malta & Cyprus are small islands and you'll soon bored with living there :) Other countries, ...

I am intrigued why you want to waste money for British citizenship.

As EU national, you can already get all privileges as of British citizen.

My OCI was approved within 14 days!

But collection in HCI London was bit of an experience. There was no proper system, everyone jostle in front of counter, if you are not careful, there is good chance of passports being mixed up with someone else's!

An allowance is not salary! When was exactly in this situation and my first HSMP (then) application was refused as caseworker did not accept allowance as salary. Remember, TCS does NOT pay tax in UK (for employees) and that's the reason they operate allowance model. However that was 5 years back and...

You can surrender Indian passport at any of VFS offices.

But OCI application can only be done from HCI London/Birmingham/Edinburgh.

You will get your cancelled Indian passports back with REVOKED stamp and cut corners in cover page. Just in case you have any emotional values with the passport :)

What is the source of this info? As per my understanding, OCI candidates are eligible for joint entrance and other similar exams. You may need to pay NRI fees though. By the time your children reaches that age, rules may change. As I said before, you need to ask this in R2I club forum (Google it for...

Don't be so sentimental. It hardly matters whether you have OCI or true Indian passport. A British passport offers many advantages around the world (and especially in EU) compared to Indian passport. Theoretically, you already lost Indian citizenship as soon as you took British citizenship. I wonder...

Fortunately I went with 51x51 mm photos and glad I did it. I also saw many people were turned away because of wrong photo size!

I didn't have to go to Snappy Snap. A local photo studio did 4 photos for £10 only.

Can someone confirm how fussy HCI about photo size?

Can I use same photo which I used for my British Passport? It is slightly smaller than 51x51 mm.

Spelling error in naturalisation certificate

My wife's maiden surname is spelt wrong in naturalisation certificate. She does not use maiden name anymore and her passport (Indian) is in married name. Should I get it corrected by sending to UKBA first or apply for British passport anyway? I tried to call UKBA but they don't seem to pick up the p...

Travel after British citizenship but not passport

I have got my British citizenship (via naturalisation).

But I am yet to apply for British passport.

Am I allowed to travel using my Indian passport in the meantime? (either to visit India or any other country)

Hang on a minute, will my daughter be eligible for British Passport directly or she will have to apply for naturalization first?

When she was born, both my wife and myself had ILR.

Now my wife and I hold naturalization certificates.

What will be my status after citizenship ceremony but before application of British passport? I understand I shall still need to use my Indian passport if I fly out of UK. But there are other scenarios where I need to state my nationality eg. child benefit claim form, job related matters etc.

Don't think anyone can tell you that.

Based on recommendation from Migration Advisory Committee, the government may change the rule (easier or more difficult) from time to time.

Don't plan your life based on speculation.

You need to show last 3 months income for ILR. Myself & some of my friends were out of works for 2-3 months. It didn't cause any problem. However, my friend has to wait till he got another job and could last 3 months earning at ILR application day. Prior to that doesn't matter as long you can show e...

I applied thru NCS on 2nd Sep and got acknowledgment letter in 10 days.

Get courier tracking number from NCS.

Check if credit/debit/cheque has been debited for UKBA fee.

Job loss after application submission

Hi

I recently submitted my BC application (thru Nationality Checking services).

But then I lost my job.

Will this affect my application? I understand that it is not a mandatory requirement for one to have a job for BC but I did submit my employer's detail in the application.
